An app for oral reading fluency assessment developed by IIT Bombay.

TARA Android App Installation Requirements Android Phone (OS: Android 5.0 Lollipop & above) A reliable internet connection on your device Atleast 100 MB space on the device (Roughly 100MB would be needed to record 50 children) Earphones/Headset with microphone for recording Note: The App does not work on an iPhone, any Web Browser, Desktop, Laptop or Chromebook. Note : Only student initials will be displayed in the TARA App in accordance with the privacy policy of the TARA App. “Zip and Upload” recordings once at the end of every day. Not needed to be done after recording each student unless you have less than 10 MB free space on your device.

5. Step 3 : Add details of students from their class via an Excel Sheet . Using the Desktop/Laptop will allow us to easily edit student details. Note :Only student initials will be saved and displayed in accordance with the privacy policy of the TARA App.

6. Updating/Deleting list of  already added students *Very important* You DO NOT need to delete student entries if you need to change any existing students name or gender. You DO NOT need to delete student entries if you need to add new students to your class list. 

7. ADDING NEW STUDENTS (T.C. CASE) Append new students names at the bottom of your sheet Upload the Excel sheet again Existing student details from the sheet will be ignored and only new students names will be added to your list. UPDATING LIST OF ALREADY ADDED STUDENTS Only Name (initials) and Gender of existing students can be changed. Edit only the above student details in the sheet and upload the sheet again. only new students names are chosen.  You cannot change the Admission No, Class, Section & Roll No of a student once added.

8. POINTS TO REMEMBER: We may record ‘n’ number of times for a particular student but the last recording will be considered as final. The app is designed in such a way that after zip & upload nothing is seen under recording tab. Directed to use earphones to avoid external disturbances . Recording may be done without earphones too. Noting down the name of the child after completing the recording would be easier (both in hindi and English ) to avoid repetition .
