(FY 2025–26) Achievements and People-Oriented Works of the Water Resources Department
Introduction The Water Resources Department has undertaken extensive initiatives during the financial year 2025–26 to improve irrigation efficiency, rejuvenate old water channels, and ensure equitable distribution of water to farmers across the state. The department’s sustained efforts have resulted in significant achievements benefiting thousands of farmers and villages.
1. Restoration of Watercourses Total Watercourses Restored: 1 Total Length Restored: 18840ft. The department successfully revived defunct and damaged watercourses, ensuring proper water flow to tail-end farmers and reducing water losses.
2. Restoration of Outlets Total Outlets Restored: ___ Nos. Old, silted, or damaged outlets were redesigned and restored to optimize water discharge and minimize leakage losses.
3. Pipeline and Brickwork Watercourses Executed Pipeline Watercourses: 11| Total Length: 120371 ft. | Total Cost: ₹ 60934852 Brickwork Watercourses: 1| Total Length: 18840 ft.| Total Cost: ₹ 17492950 These modernized systems have ensured efficient conveyance, minimized seepage, and supported equitable water distribution.
4. Lining and Pucca Works Total Length Lined: 37770 ft. No. of Pucca st : 7 Total Expenditure Lined: ₹ 45154987 Total Expenditure Pucca : ₹ 6153344 Lining of canals and watercourses has reduced seepage losses, enhanced durability, and increased irrigation efficiency.
5. Irrigated Area Expansion Previous Irrigated Area: ___ hectares New Irrigated Area: ___ hectares Additional Area Brought Under Irrigation: ___ hectares These efforts have ensured that several previously unirrigated regions now receive reliable water supply for agriculture.
6. Water Reaching Farmers’ Fields After a gap of 40 years , water has successfully reached the fields of farmers, rejuvenating agricultural productivity and improving livelihoods.
