DEFINITION OF TASK-BASED INTRUCTIONS/ TASK-BASED LANGUAGE TEACHING The definition of Task-Based Instruction / Task-Based Language Teaching is a learning approach that focuses on the use of relevant and meaningful tasks to develop students ’ language abilities . In this approach , students are given tasks that require them to use the target language to solve problems or achieve specific goals . These tasks can take the form of projects that require collaboration , research , analysis , and synthesis , as well as effective communication through various media. As a result , students gain more authentic and meaningful experiences in using language to communicate and interact with others .

PRINCIPLES OF TASK-BASED INTRUCTIONS/ TASK-BASED LANGUAGE TEACHING Students are given tasks that require the use of language in real- life communicative situations . Students are given the opportunity to use language in contexts similar to those found in real- life situations . Students are encouraged to work together to complete language tasks . It is important to understand the context of language use in real- life situations to achieve communicative goals Task focus Collaboration Authentic language use Contextual understanding

CHARACTERISTICS OF TASK-BASED INTRUCTIONS/ TASK-BASED LANGUAGE TEACHING Real- world language TBI/TBLT focuses on using real- world language in the authentic language classroom , emphasizing the use of in communicative situations Learner-centered TBI/TBLT is a learner-centered approach that allows through process students to prepare and track their own learning tasks , giving them autonomy in their learning Focus on meaning TBI/TBLT emphasizes the importance of meaning over to form , where students are encouraged to use language , to convey their thoughts and ideas rather than just practicing grammar rules Completion of the task The primary focus of TBI/TBLT is on completing a task , where language is used as a tool go achieve a specific goal or outcome

Pre-activities : Activities conducted before the main task begins , such as providing context , warm-ups , or awareness-raising activities , to prepare students with the necessary information and skills . Task Planning : Students are given time to plan how they will complete the task , including making communication strategies and dividing tasks among Group members . Task Performance : Students perform the task as determined , such as discussing , preparing presentasi one , or solving role-plays . The teacher can monitor and students work . Post-task Activities : Activities conducted after the main task is completed , such as reflection , group discussions , or feedback to improve students ’ understanding AND language skills . Error Conection : Providing feedback on errors made by students during task implementation , either directly or through group discussions . Role Plays : Students take on roles as characters in predetermined situations , allowing them to practice language in relevant contexts . Information Gap Activities : Activities designed to create a need for communication to obtain or provide missing information . Simulation Games : use of games or simulations that imitate real- world situations , such as playing the roles of customers and waiters in a restaurant , to practice language skills in a practical context . TECHNIQUES OF TASK-BASED INTRUCTIONS/TASK-BASED/TASKS BASED LANGUAGE TEACHING

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF TASK-BASED INTRUCTIONS/TASK-BASED LANGUAGE TEACHING There is no acquisition of new grammar or vocabulary features Everything is left to the teacher Not all students are or will be motivated by TBI/TBLT Some students need more guidance and will not or cannot ` notice ’ language forms ( grammar ) or other elements of accuracy TBI/TBLT is applicable and suitable for students of all ages and background . Students will have a much more varied exposure to language with tbl .
Students are free to use whatever vocabulary and grammar they know , rather than just the task language of the lesson . Allows meaningful communication . Encourages students to be more ambitious in the language . STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
