2. Definition In teacher-centered education, students put all of their focus on the teacher. The teacher talks, while the students exclusively listen .

3. Conti….. . It is the primary role of teachers to pass knowledge and information onto their students. In this approach, teaching and assessment are viewed as two separate entities. Student learning is measured through objectively scored tests and assessments.

4. Direct Instruction Direct instruction is the primary teaching strategy under the Teacher-Centered Approach , in that teachers and professors are the sole supplier of knowledge and information. Direct instruction is effective in teaching basic and fundamental skills across all content areas .

5. Characteristics Teacher talk exceeds student talk during instruction. Instruction occurs frequently with the whole class; small-group or individual instruction occurs less often. Use of class time is largely determined by the teacher. The teachers rely heavily upon the textbook to guide curricular and instructional decision making. The classroom furniture is usually arranged into rows of desks or chairs facing a chalkboard with a teacher’s desk nearby .
