The father of Geography ERATOSTHENES - the ancient Greek scholar is called the "Father of Geography" He was the first to use the word geography .
The father of Geography ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT - German traveler, scientist and geographers -commonly known as the "Father of modern Geography"
LOCATION
A place position on earth. 2 types of location ABSOLUTE LOCATION - refers to the exact geographical coordinated of a place usually measured using latitude and longitude. RELATIVE LOCATION - refers to the position of a place or entity based on its reaction with respect to other location. LOCATION
PLACE
PLACE The physical and human characteristics of an area will affect what it's like to be there. It's characteristic can include culture, language, buildings, weather and more.
2 types of place 1. Physical characteristic - land forms (Mountain, Forest, etc.) bodies of water (oceans, lakes, bays, etc.) ecosystem (Soil, plants animals & climate).
2. HUMAN CHARACTERISTIC Architectural styles, building culture, languages, belief, form of livelihood. All places have features that distinguish, religious practices then form another places, monthod of communication, foods political system .

MOVEMENT
MOVEMENT Refers to the translocation of human being, their goods information and ideas from one end of the planet to another. It deals with how and why people travel from one place to another and how goods are transported.
People move in hundred ways from walking next door to flying in jets to faraway countries . Goods move by many modes of transportation, including trains, airplanes and trucks. Newspapers, Television, computers and telephones are just a few of many ways that ideas move from one place to another place.
REGION
Is a specific area that has common features these features could be natural, like rivers and mountains, or man made like cities or countries. REGION
Region are defined by their geographical, cultural or governmental characteristic. An area is characteristic by similar cultural or physical characteristic that set it part from other areas.
What are region and how are they useful? Region can be defined on the basis of physical and human characteristics.
Geographers divide the world into regions to help them interpret information.
3 types of Region Formal region - official boundaries such as cities, states, countries and provinces. Functional region - is a geographical area defined by interactions, flows, or linkages.
vernacular region - is a geographical area that people identify based on their perception of culture. The term "vernacular" refers to a regional language or dialect.
Geographers use these themes to explain and define where people live and they also help people understand the world from different geographical perspective .
