Category 2: Working Competency
Twoofthesixareasofgeniuswouldbeconsideredourworking
competencies.Thesearetheactivitiesthatwefindneithercompletely
miserablenorcompletelyjoyful,andwhichwecandofairlywell,
perhapsevenverywell.Mostofuscanmanagetooperateinour
workingcompetenciesfairlywellforawhile,butwewilleventually
growwearyifwearenotallowedtoexerciseourtruegeniuses.

Category 3: Working Frustration
Finally,eachofushastwotypesofworkthatdrainusofourjoyand
energy,andwecalltheseourworkingfrustrations.Weusuallystruggle
intheseactivities.Ofcourse,noonecancompletelyavoidworkingin
ourareasoffrustrationfromtimetotime,butifwefindourselves
spendingmeaningfultimeengagedintheseactivities,weareboundto
experiencemiseryatwork,andultimately,struggleorevenfail.

Genius vs. Competency vs. Frustration
Eventhougheachtypeiscalledagenius,noonepersoncanclaimall
sixastheirindividualgeniuses.Weallhaveareaswherewethrive,
areaswherewestruggle,andareasthatfallsomewhereinbetween.
Let’stakealookateachofthosethreecategories,becausesuccess
requiresustounderstandtheareaswhereweshineaswellasthose
wherewedon’t.

Theabilitytocomeupwithnewideasandsolutions.Peoplewiththisgenius
aredrawntowardorigination,creativity,andingenuityinthetruestsenseof
thosewords,evenwithlittledirectionandcontext.Thougheverytypeisa
genius,thesearethepeoplewhoaremostoftenreferredtoas“geniuses”
becausemanyoftheirideasseemtocomeoutofthinair.

Thisgeniusisrelatedtoinstinct,intuition,anduncannyjudgment.People
withthisgeniushaveanaturalabilitytoassessanideaorsituation,even
withoutalotofdataorexpertise.Usingpatternrecognitionandgutfeel,
theyareabletoprovidevaluableadviceandfeedbackaroundmostsubjects
inawaythattranscendstheirlevelsofspecificknowledgeorinformation.

brakesandevaluate.
