Simple Sentence
•A simple sentence contains only one
independent clause.
•Ex: I live in Georgia.
Compound Sentence
•A compound sentece has two or more
independent clauses.
•I live Stone Mountain, Georgia; Stone
Mountain is about forty-five minutes from
Atlanta.
Complex Sentence
•A complex sentence contains one
independent clause and one dependent
clause.
•Do you like Georgia, I do.
Compound-Complex Sentence
•A compound-complex sentence contains
at least two independent clauses and at
least one dependent clause.
•I live in Georgia, some of my family lives in
Georgia, others live in Florida.
Declarative Sentence
•A declarative sentence is used to make a
simple statement.
•I live in Georgia
Interrogative Sentence
•An interrogative sentence is asking a
question.
•Do you like Georgia?
Exclamatoy Sentence
•An exclamatory sentence is used for
emphasis and emotion.
•I love Georgia!
Imperative Sentence
•An imperative sentence is used for
commands
•Come to Georgia.
