The concept of urban housing focuses on providing safe, dignified, and permanent shelter with basic amenities to all sections of society, especially the poor and homeless, through government schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) and the Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH) scheme under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). These initiatives provide access to proper infrastructure, sanitation, and water to improve living conditions and social security for vulnerable urban populations.
