By connecting people, places, things and information to the internet, new business opportunities are created, and business modelcan be rethink, reinvented,
reimagined and transformed.
And how we can do that? By leveraging the new technologies of social-media, mobility, cloud-computing, big data, AI/ML and Internet of Things

EXAMPLE OF USER EXPERIENCE & DATA -DRIVEN INNOVATIONS
Click here to access the web site
The tremendous amount of information produced by the many people, the many businesses and the many things connected to
the internet should be utilized` to create new-revenue, better customer-experience, and better business-processes.
In this example, people made 1.35 billion journeys on London's tube network a year. Every weekday, London sees 2 million
people travelling-in on the tube... and 2 million traveling back. This Tube-Heartbeat-application is used to map London’s busy
Underground system.
And so, People can find-out when their local station is busiest. And people can find-out whether their travel indeed is busier than
it used to be.

Train
Automation & Smart Operations play a pivotal role in integrating the Metrorail with the smart city ecosystem

IN THIS EXAMPLE AUTOMATION & SMART OPERATIONS IS ENABLED
BY 5 UNDERLYING CONCEPTS
Smart Cities
Internet of Things
(IoT)
Cyber-Physical
Systems (CPS)
Industrial Internet of
Things (IIoT)
Operational
Technology (OT)
Driverless Train
The Driverless Train is using an OT System to
optimize its processes
The Metrorail Network is using the concept of CPS to
enable safe, real-time, secure, reliable, resilient, and
adaptable performance for its physical assets /humans
The Smart City is using Smart City as a Service (SCaaS) to
optimize city’s economy / society
Smart City:
Smart Mobility
Smart Grid
Smart Water Mngt.
etc.
The Maintenance & Repair Service Provider is using IoT to
connect and track the provisioning of its spare parts and
services
IoT
The Smart Factory is using IIoTto optimize its production
lines

Smart Grid (SCaaS)
5 Actors
In this example, the Smart City’s CPSs analyse the data, identify context, automate decisions, prescribe and execute courses of actions, all in real time
1-TRAIN’sOT system identifies a Fault in the Train
3-Metrorail Network (Cyber-Physical System) acts as a
Machine Customer, requesting spare parts and maintenance
services from the MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
SERVICE PROVIDER
4-The FACTORYidentifies a shortage in spare parts and
operates additional machines to replenishes the spare parts
inventory, consuming additional power
2-Train's OT System informs the METRORAIL NETWORK to:
-Reschedule the network trips and;
-Request maintenance service on behalf of the Train
5-The Factory asks the SMART GRID for real-time pricing of the
increased demand through Grid’s transactive control. The grid also
sends an incentive offering to the Smart-City Metrorail network,
and the Metrorail reduces consumption by adjusting stations’
lighting & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
