3. INTRODUCTION "Avi Sala Eshma , Agape Avi, Avisala !" These are Enchanta words used in the fantasy drama series Encantadia . Each Sang’gre is bestowed with different gems that highlight each fairy’s unique abilities. They used these powers to protect and safeguard their realm. However, there were instances when these powers were used with ill intent, causing harm to others. Yet, it was also the gems that guided them to do what is best for everyone.

5. You Have a Gem Just like the Sang’gres , you, too, possess a gem granted to you at the time of creation. From the moment of birth, you already carry the gifts of intellect and free will, though you have yet to use them because you are still unaware of the power and abilities they can bestow upon you. Every person created by God is given this kind of gift to help them achieve the purpose of their existence.

6. Powers and Abilities of the Mind and Free Will What are the powers and abilities of the mind and free will? Where and how can these be used? According to Dr. Manuel Dy Jr., a person has three essential components: the mind, the heart, and the hands or body.

8. The Mind's Capabilities The mind is the ability to think and discern the essence and meaning of something. It has the power to judge, reason, analyze, remember, and understand the meaning of things. Therefore, the mind is called intellect (intellect), reason (reason), intellectual consciousness, conscience, and intellectual memory, depending on its use in each situation.

9. The Heart's Role The heart is a small part of the body that envelops the whole of a person. It feels everything that happens in our lives. From here, decisions and emotions arise. The heart shapes a person's personality. All of a person's goodness and evil are hidden here.

10. The Hands and Body's Role The hands or body symbolize the senses, holding, movement, action, and speech (through the mouth or writing). These are commonly used to carry out an action or deed. It is not enough for a person to identify different parts of their body; what’s important is that they understand their uses. The body is an essential part of a person, as it is used to express the mind and heart in concrete ways. Through the body, a person can show what is happening within them. It is also the instrument used to communicate with others.

11. Through the Mind a person seeks the truth; therefore, they continually research to understand and act according to the truth they have discovered. The senses help achieve this truth. Through the knowledge gained, a person can act for the benefit of others. Because the human mind has limitations and is not as perfect as the Creator, it feels a sense of inadequacy. Thus, the search for truth by the mind is never-ending; truth is the destination of the mind.

12. On the Will On the other hand, the will, as described by St. Thomas Aquinas, is a rational appetency because it is a faculty that is drawn to the good and repelled by the evil. Therefore, the aim of the will is goodness. The will is not attracted to evil; it can never desire the evil itself. Choosing evil occurs only when it is wrapped in goodness and appears good and appealing. The will relies on the information provided by the mind. The mind influences the will, as it will not desire something that it does not understand. This also gives humans the power to act and choose, making the will the root of responsible actions.

13. Through the Will a person can choose to do good. However, not all good actions are of the same kind. It depends on the person to research and discern which is the greater good to choose. Thus, the mind and will, like the body, need to be trained and developed to fulfill their respective purposes. If not, they can be used incorrectly, hindering the achievement of human fulfillment.

14. The Role of the Individual Every person has the duty to train, develop, and perfect the mind and will. It is important to safeguard these faculties to preserve their true purpose for which they were granted to humanity. It is expected that a person develops both their mind and will simultaneously. As they discover knowledge and wisdom through study or research, they are also expected to demonstrate responsible use of these faculties in their character. In doing so, they will become a better being with a good will.

15. The Essence of Intelligence Intelligence is not measured by the quantity of knowledge or the level of education, but by how one uses that knowledge to dedicate oneself to the development of their character, serving others, and participating in community service. Humans are unique due to the ability of the mind and will to act according to their nature... to be human. The mind must be utilized to gather knowledge and wisdom to understand the will in doing good towards the development of one's character.
