The situation Decreasing number of full-time Registered Radiologic Technologists (RRT) Concerns regarding availability of Sonographer Billing issues
PROBLEM #1: DECREASING NUMBER OF RRTs ACTION ITEM OBJECTIVE STEPS TO ACHIEVE POINT PERSON REMARKS ADEQUATE STAFFING TO HIRE ENOUGH COMPETENT RRTs Hire enough RRTs to man each modality per duty Provide competitive starting salary Potentially raise salary based on tenure HR RRTs are an integral part of the operations of the department. Losing competent RRTs will adversely affect the operations of the department. Research on the current starting salary and appropriate salary based on tenure may be indicated. Majority of the time, one RRT handles three modalities (X-ray, CT, and Mammo ) per 24-hour duty, which is not recommended. Portable X-ray and C-arm procedures are also usually done by the single RRT on-duty. TO RETAIN HIRED RRTs
PROBLEM #2: AVAILABILITY OF SONOGRAPHER ACTION ITEM OBJECTIVE STEPS TO ACHIEVE POINT PERSON REMARKS MAINTAIN AVAILABILITY OF SONOGRAPHER TO RETAIN THE CURRENT SONOGRAPHER Provide competitive starting salary Potentially raise salary based on tenure Sonographer certification training of in-house staff, preferably RRT HR DEPARTMENT HEAD CHIEF RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST Sonographers are an asset to our department since they enable timely accommodation of basic ultrasound imaging requests. Research on the current starting salary and appropriate salary based on tenure may be indicated. Currently, one sonographer is available between 8am to 5pm from Monday to Friday. PROBLEM #3: BILLING ISSUES ACTION ITEM OBJECTIVE STEPS TO ACHIEVE POINT PERSON REMARKS ACCURATE REPORT OF PAID AND PENDING PROFESSIONAL FEES TO PROVIDE A MONTHLY REPORT OF ALL IMAGING STUDIES INTERPRETED ASSESS WHETHER INTEGRATION OF RADIOLOGY INFORMATION SYSTEM (RIS) AND HOSPITAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (HIMS) IS POSSIBLE IF THE ABOVE IS NOT POSSIBLE, MONTHLY REPORT OF ALL IMAGING STUDIES INTERPRETED PER CONSULTANT WILL BE PROVIDED BY RRT ACCOUNTING/BILLING WILL CROSS-CHECK ALL PROCEDURES PAID AND WILL PROVIDE EACH RADIOLOGY CONSULTANT A REPORT OF PAID AND PENDING FEES RRT BILLING ACCOUNTING IT Due to the volume of imaging studies to be accounted for, streamlining this process will promote confidence for the Radiology Consultants.
