The hydrosphere The hydrosphere is the sphere of water that surrounds our planet . In Latin , “ hydro ” means water .
The hydrosphere is always moving : the water cycle
The hydrosphere is always moving Rivers : they have an importan t job. They drain the landscape, and move water, and minerals towards the Earth’s oceans.
The hydrosphere is always moving Seas and oceans : they move because of three phenomena : waves , currents and tides .
The hydrosphere is always moving The surface of the Earth’s oceans are is in constant motion, moving up and down, in the form of waves .
The hydrosphere is always moving There are a number of ocean currents around the Earth. A current is like a vast river within the ocean, flowing from one place to another. These currents are caused by differences in temperature, differences in salinity, and by wind.
The hydrosphere is always moving But the most important factor moving water across the ocean are tides . Tides are caused by the Sun and the gravity of the Moon. Tides cause water levels to rise and fall every six hours approximately.
