THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - Exodus 20:2-3 “ Thou shalt have no other gods before me ” “ Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image “ “ Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain “ “ Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy “ “ Honour thy father and mother; that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee “ “ Thou shalt not kill “ “ Thou shalt not commit adultery “ Thou shalt not steal “ “ Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor “ “ Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s “

TWO GREAT COMMANDMENTS - Mark 12:29-31 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

5. THE NEW COMMANDMENT - John 13:34-35 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

6. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:12-13

7. 16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. - 1 John 3:16

8. THREE GREEK WORDS OF “ LOVE “

9. 1. Eros The greek word “ eros “ means sexual love.

10. 2. Phileo This is the greek word for friendship love

11. 3. AGAPE This is the highest form of love. It is the the love that God has for us.

12. And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. - Genesis 2:18

13. THE IMPORTANCE OF LOVE 1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

14. THE GREATEST OF THESE IS AGAPE LOVE 13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

15. Colosians 3:12-14 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
