LECTURE 1
1
How do we achieve QUALITY
performance in the laboratory?
2
Quality refers to the overall standard of lab
processes, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and
efficiency in test results. It encompasses
everything from staff competency to equipment
maintenance and compliance with regulations.
3
What is quality control?
Quality control in a medical lab is to provide
accurate and reliable results in the minimum
possible time, with minimum error.
4
Cont……
To achieve quality control in lab we have to focus
on
i. Accuracy
ii. Precision
Accuracy: How much test results are closed
towards the original/actual value
Precision : How much test result is closeness to
each other when repeat same patient, same test
several time
5
6
Quality Assurance
It means we ensure patient and clinician that this
result in laboratory is 100% correct.
Quality control is just a branch of QA. Quality
control require when we are performing test while
quality assurance is concerned with all the steps
from sample collection up to report dispatch.
(Right patient, right sample, right test, right time,
right result).
