Introduction Narration and review of events relating to my birth, background, education and growing up experiences including working career, hobbies and marriage as well as the high and low points I have experienced in life’s journey I hope that having an insight into these aspects of my life and the lessons life has taught me will enable the participants understand how to relate with me ,pick some of the good habits I have , avoid my mistakes and strife to do better than I Finally I hope reviewing my life will reveal to me areas I can improve on to make me a better person 4

5. Aim to provide information about all aspects of my life to the eminent Faculty members, Course study coordinators and fellow course participants to evaluate and put such into perspectives in relating with me and hopefully offer them some lessons from my experiences and beliefs. 5

Early Life/ Background Date of Birth: 17 th October 1966 Place of Birth : Kagoro , Kaura LGA, Kaduna State Parents: Late Zango Bartholomew Nickaf (Educational administrator) and Juliana June Ninyio ( teacher) Grand parents : Late Madaki Nickaf Nuwamshong ( Business Man) Mama Ndanagi Shekamang Position : First born and first grandchild Brought up by my Granparents from age 2, based on request to my parents Granddad first thought me how to read and write. Brought me up based on the bible( was taught the entire bible by the time I was 12years) Inculcated the values of honesty, hardwork and humility as virtues of good life Myself at 1 year 6

7. Early Education Enrolled at age 6 in 1973 , in Local Education Authority primary school, Fadan Kagoro Outstanding pupil and class monitor from class one to six Diligent pupil , always on time to school bell keeper left primary school in third term of class six for secondary school Myself now 7

8. Secondary School Enrolled at Tafawa Balewa Memorial College , TBMC Samaru – Kataf third term of 1979 Topped the class at the end of the term exams First experience of air flight from my Granpa as a reward for brilliant performance Spurred me to always strife for excellence I choose Science Subjects TBMC was located in a village and isolated from undue influence but had no teacher for Physics Graduated in 1983 from secondary school with excellent grades Sat and passed JAMB and was admitted to the University of Jos to read medicine 8

University Education Admitted into University of Jos, faculty of medicine and medical sciences in 1983 Due to a deficiency in physics for which I had a P7 instead of credit was rejected in medical school Opted for Chemistry , in particular Industrial chemistry About 23 students enrolled for Chemistry in 1983 11 students graduated from Chemistry in 1987 Graduated from Chemistry in 1987 with a first class Best graduating student in the entire University in 1987 Myself and parents at graduation 9

10. National Youth Service Corp Programme Served between 1987 and 1988 NYSC orientation in Hadeija , Kano State Primary assignment, Chemistry department, Bayero University Kano Demonstrator/ supervisor, Laboratory classes Stayed at Corpers lodge in Auren Shanu 10

11. Post graduate Studies Granted a full scholarship by the Australian Government under the Equity and Merit Scholarship Scheme. Commenced my postgraduate studies at the school of Chemical engineering and Industrial chemistry at the University Of New South Wales, Kensington, Sydney, Australia in February 1990. My Ph.D Thesis was centered on Neodymium Catalysed Polymerization of butadiene. The objective of the work was to Polymerize Butadiene to essentially Cis 1,4 product which is an excellent Elastomer used in tire production Graduated with a PhD, Industrial Chemistry(Polymer) in Feb 1995 11

Work Experience/Career National Youth service 1987 -1988, Chemistry department, BUK Graduate Assistant , Chemistry department, University of Jos 1989-1995 Part Time teaching Assistant & Laboratory Demonstrator, Schools of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering & Industrial Chemistry, University of New South Wales, N.S.W. Australia 1990-1994 Industrial attachment. Plant experience at Australia Synthetic Rubber Company, ASR, now Kemco Elastomers pty , Altona, VIC, Australia. Experience /Travels (unique/significance) Italy: Rome where I visited the Vatican and saw the sistern chapel and Basilica and Turin where I saw the holy shroud in which Christ was buried India: where I visited the wonderful Taj Mahal , Agra and Pink palace Jaipur Turkey where I and my family rode a cruise on the Bosphorus river in Instabul Dubai where I went up to the 123rd floor of the Burj Khalifa Nepal, Kathmandu where I went up the Chandagiri mountains by cable car Senegal where I went up the renaissance monument in Dakar Picture of the African Renaissance Monument stature I Dakar 15

19. MARITAL FAMILIY LIFE I got married to my darling wife, Grace Marcus on the 23 rd of may 1999 after courting her for about two years. Our wedding was actually slated for Saturday 22 nd May 1999 but couldn’t hold on that date because of some religious crisis that broke up in Kafanchan on the day of the wedding . Our marriage is blessed with two adorable children, Danielle and David. Family picture 19

20. High points The highpoints in my life are very many. I was very trilled when I got admission to the university. I was more happy when I graduated with an excellent result as the best graduating Student. I was again very happy when I got my PhD . My marriage day is another day I was happy at and I will not forget in a hurry but my happiness knew no bounds the day my first Child ,Danielle was born. The birth of David , my son sealed my happiness. The day I got promoted to the rank of Director   20

21. LOWPOINTS I have experienced my share of low points First the lost of my father three days after I came back from NYSC really shocked me. I experienced another painful loss in 1997 when my Grandfather died. I have always viewed him as my Father and I recall shedding tears on my wedding day bec 21

22. LESSONS LEARNED I have learned to live life one day at a time, to make the most of every situation I find myself, never put aside till tomorrow what you can done now, to always put my wife, Children and Family first after God and above all to be grateful to God in all things. 22

23. HOBBIES jogging, playing/watching soccer, watching documentary movies, reading and computers   Bungee jumping at 150 ft off the Gold Coast, Australia 23

CONCLUSION In conclusion, I am honored to have generated interest in you in seeking to know about my life, my birth, background ,achievements and challenges and what I think about life .For me ,life is what you make it .
