What is Swadeshi Movement? Implement of Swadeshi Movement: Swadeshi Movement was launched as a protest movement which also gave a lead to the Boycott movement in the country. Boycotted using foreign products. Prohibited children to attend British schools and boycotted British education system. The credit for starting the Swadeshi Movement goes to Baba Ram Singh of the Sikh Namdheri .
Extremist Movement Bal Gangadhar Tilak became the leader of extremist movement group in the congress. He was born in 1856 in Maratha. When the swadeshi movement started he strongly opposed to the milder policies of the congress. He strongly recommended the militant method of agitation. Many like minded congress men became his followers. Men like Lala Lajpat Rai of the Punjab and Bipin Chandra Pal of Calcutta turned his blind followers.
Reasons of the extremist movement : Some of the Congress leaders, specially the younger, were greatly disappointed with the attitude of the British Government towards their demand. The misery and suffering caused by the famines of 1896-98 and bubonic plague around the same time also greatly agitated people. The ill-treatment meted out to Indians in foreign countries, especially South Africa, also gave fillip to the extremist movement. The Congress leaders learnt that even countries like America, Germany, Italy, France, and Britain had to resort to force to gain independence or preserve democracy. They had to pass thought violent struggle to gain independence.

Das & Motilal Nehru Gandhi's vision: Forcing the British to quit India; Using only the nonviolent means; Training people to be good human beings by self-control self-government charged with the responsibility of protecting the human rights Educating people to give priority to their duties towards others including nature; and Organizing the society and economy of free India in such a way that the basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, health, education, security, and self-esteem) of all were met satisfactorily and on a priority basis.

Significance The Swadeshi Movement had deep rooted effect on the national life of India.This movement proved a great success.It united people of India to fight against the British rule.The significance of Swadeshi Movement were: Swadeshi Movement brought a new dimension to the Indian freedom movement. The more successfull was of this boycott movement was the boycotting of forign goods specially clothes . The terrorist secret socities like “Anushilon Samity” and “Jugantar Dal” got their chances of rising.According to Will Durant,' it was in 1905 that the Indian revolution began'. By this movement every Indian made themselves Self Reliable and Self Powered. It give a move to the normal Indian to come in the first row for Swaraj by using volunteer organization like “ Swadesh Bandhab Samiti “ in Bengal. This Movement was a source of inspiration for next generation and its political thinking. This movement had deep impect on Bengal's social and cultural life.
We can say that Swaeshi Movement was the real start of the nationalist movement of India and it was so special because first time in the history of India , the farmer's and women's participation happened in this large volumn.This movement also effected the indian society and its intelectual category to restart thinking about orientalist art and culture of India.
