Once upon a time there lived two goats. The
goats were friends. They played joyfully in the
sun. The goats lived in the mountains.
HELLO
!
“We are Friends!”

3
One day, the two goats happened to meet on the opposite sides
of a deep ravine. Connecting the two opposite sides of the ravine
was a fallen tree. The tree had fallen and made a bridge-
connecting the two hilltops.
Below the bridge was a fast flowing river.

4
The goats saw that the tree was too small for two
large goats, but each wanted to cross first. The
tree trunk was not safe. It was not strong. It was
dangerous. It would be difficult even for
one goat to walk across.

5
“I am not scared. I will walk on the tree first,” said one
goat. The other goat wanted to be first and said, “No, stay
on your side. I will walk on the tree first!”
So each of the goats started to walk to cross the bridge.

6
The two goats came face to face near the middle of the bridge.
The bridge was too narrow for two goats to cross.
“Hey!” the first goat shouted at the second. “Make way for me. I
want to cross first. You’d better retreat!”

7
“Who do you think you are?” the second goat shouted back at
the first goat. “I want to cross the bridge first.
Step backwards, you silly goat!”
None wanted to give way to the other.

8
The first goat was angry. So was the second goat. They
met horn to horn and started butting at each other. They
were fighting … in the middle of the narrow tree bridge!
None wanted to give way to the other!

9
So what do you think happened?
The two angry goats butted at each other as hard
as they could. Both lost their balance at the narrow
bridge and fell down into the fast flowing river
below. Sadly, both the goats drowned.
Down into the river below the 2 goats fell.

1 Pride Goes Before A Fall.
Beware! The Ego can bring suffering to you.
2 Stubbornness to do a wise thing can lead
to danger and a misfortune.
3 When you feel your self-importance or ego
is challenged, unwholesome anger can set in.
4 You must always think mindfully, clearly and
wisely before you act. Otherwise you’ll suffer.
