The Future of School Libraries: Why Software is the Way to Go?
Introduction The role of librarians in schools has been a topic of debate for years. With the rise of technology, some argue that replacing librarians with software can offer numerous advantages. In this presentation, we will explore the benefits of using software in place of librarians and how it can improve the learning experience for students.
In this project, we are going to get to know about :- Application Development Benefits of The Replacement The Solution
Application Development Mobile application development is the process of making software for smartphones, tablets and digital assistants, most commonly for the Android and iOS operating systems. The software can be preinstalled on the device, downloaded from a mobile app store or accessed through a mobile web browser. The programming and markup languages used for this kind of software development include Java, Swift, C# and HTML5. Mobile app development is rapidly growing. From retail, telecommunications and e-commerce to insurance, healthcare and government, organizations across industries must meet user expectations for real-time, convenient ways to conduct transactions and access information. Today, mobile devices—and the mobile applications that unlock their value—are the most popular way for people and businesses to connect to the internet. To stay relevant, responsive and successful, organizations need to develop the mobile applications that their customers, partners and employees demand.
Benefits Of The Replacement Replacing librarians with software can also be a cost-effective solution for schools. Hiring and training librarians can be expensive, and software can provide many of the same services at a lower cost. This cost savings can be used to invest in other areas of education, such as technology or teacher salaries . Software can also improve the efficiency of the research process. With advanced search algorithms and indexing systems, students can quickly find relevant resources without sifting through stacks of books. This time-saving feature allows students to spend more time analyzing and synthesizing information, leading to a deeper understanding of the material.
The application keeps details of the books, magazines or other materials available in the library as per their categories. The addition and removal of books is simple as the software updates the records in a fraction of seconds. The student can login and browse through different books present in the library, it is one simple searching option which leads to more student engagement in the libraries. Reminders to parents will be sent so that they make sure that the student has returned the borrowed book by the due date.
The Solution we have come up with We have come up with an application, designed for complex management of school libraries, aiming at the idea of student friendly interaction with technology. The application will be totally free of cost and will be available on Google Play Store. This application will be pre-installed on the library computer or tablet which will be accessed by students later while issuing, returning or searching the books.
The Home Screen Interface On clicking the icon of the app, students will be directed to the Transaction Interface as shown in the picture. Here, they can manually enter the Book ID given alongside the barcode of the book or access the “Scan” option. They will be requested to enter their 8-digit Student ID to complete the process. Upon clicking on the “Submit” option, the student will be registered with the book and an SMS will be sent to their parent’s phone number which is registered in the School Database. Another reminder will be sent to the parents if the student fails to return the book within 14 Days of issuing it.
