Former Associate Dean of Students at Bard College
With a rich background in education and leadership, Timand Bates has made

Timand Bates earned an M.A. in Teaching of English from Teachers College,
Columbia University, and a B.A. in Languages and Literature from Bard College.
As the Program Manager for the Open Society University Network, he oversaw
a substantial grant, enhancing global online education and faculty engagement.
At Bard College, Timand Bates served as Associate Dean of Students, promoting
student success and inclusion. His earlier roles include directing literacy programs
at Reading Revolution and leading the Oakland Reading Center.
Timand Bates’s teaching career includes positions at Bard College’s MAT program,
the Bard Prison Initiative, and the American University of Central Asia. His work
has been recognized in publications and conferences, highlighting his expertise in
liberal arts education, online learning, and curricular development.
