Learning Activity Sheet No. 5 TLE 10 – Agricultural Crops Production Checking Materials, Tools, and Equipment for Faults

Learning Competency LO 1: Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for agronomic crop work (TLE_AFAC9-12CW-If-j-2) 1.2 Check materials, tools, and equipment for insufficient quantity or faults/defects and report to the authority.

Background Information In agronomic crop production, faults in tools and equipment may be minor or critical. Differentiating these ensures safety and efficiency.

What Are Faults? Faults are damages, malfunctions, or defects in tools, materials, or equipment affecting effectiveness, safety, or durability.

Types of Faults Minor Faults: - Do not pose danger - Tool still usable with caution - Must be reported & scheduled for repair Critical Faults: - Pose safety risks - Tool unsafe or unusable - Tag as 'Do Not Use' and report immediately

Examples of Faults Minor: - Rust on rake - Small crack on seed tray - Loose bolt on shears Critical: - Exposed wires on sprayer - Cracked fuel tank - Broken blade on sickle

Key Considerations Ask yourself: 1. Does it affect safety? 2. Will it cause malfunction? 3. Is the tool still usable? 4. Can it be used temporarily?

Real-Life Case Scenario Maria forgot to inspect her sprayer. The nozzle broke, leaking chemicals. What went wrong? - Skipped pre-check - Did not test nozzle What should be done? - Inspect nozzle - Follow procedures - Replace/tag defective parts

Learning Activities A. Tool Trouble Classify-Me B. Scene of the Fault (Role Play) C. Critical or Chill? (Sorting Task) D. Repair Report: Fault Log Simulation

Conclusion Always check tools and equipment before use. Identify minor vs. critical faults. Report and act immediately on critical faults.
