Lesson Objectives : We will be able to confidently introduce themselves in a variety of social and professional settings, demonstrating appropriate body language, tone of voice, and introductory phrases. We will be able to introduce peers in a manner that accurately represents their skills, experiences, and qualities, ensuring the introduction is relevant to the context. We will be able to analyze their notes to draw meaningful insights about the individuals they meet, using this information to build stronger connections and follow-up communications.
1. Making introductions Making an introduction refers to the process of introducing oneself or someone else to another person or group of people. An introduction typically includes stating one’s name and possibly other relevant information, such as one’s occupation or the purpose of the introduction. (Kashifmuhammadhamza,2023)
There are many different ways to make an introduction, depending on the context and the relationship between the people being introduced. Here are a few tips for making an introduction in different situations: • At a formal event, such as a business meeting or social gathering: example “Good morning, everyone. I’d like to introduce our guest speaker, Mr. John Smith. Mr. Smith is the CEO of XYZ Corporation.” • In a professional setting, such as in a workplace or at a networking event “Hi, my name is Jane Doe and I work in marketing at ABC Company. I’d like to introduce my colleague, Sarah Johnson. Sarah is our lead designer and has played a key role in some of our most successful campaigns.” • In a casual setting, such as at a party or social gathering: “Hey, everyone. I’d like to introduce my friend, Bob. Bob and I went to college together and have been friends ever since.”
There are several key components of effective communication: • Clarity • Attention to the audience • Listening skills • Nonverbal cues • Feedback

Self-introduction is where you tell people who you are, what you do, what your interests are, where you are from, what you have done with your life. Self-Introduction is concerned with telling the person in front of you about yourself. There are several places where self-introduction is required. Interviews are the most common form of these examples. Some other places are 1 st day in the class, 1st day at the workplace, before making a speech telling about you, etc. ( Studocu.n.d .)
