Lesotho is a small, mountainous, landlocked country surrounded by its much larger neighbour, South Africa. It is completely surrounded by South Africa, making it one of the few enclaved countries in the world .The country is known for its mountainous terrain, which includes the Drakensberg mountain range and the highest park in South Africa, Thabana Ntlenyana. Lesotho is home to the only ski resort in Africa, Afriski Mountain Resort ,where visitors can enjoy winter sports in a unique Lesotho setting.

The katse dam, in the Lesotho Highlands, is one for the most spectacular water features in the country. Located on the Malibamatso river, this dam was completed in 1997 and is central to the Lesotho Highlands water project. Katse dam is a popular holiday destination, providing plenty of water based activities. Enjoy boat trips and cruises along this majestic dam, and experiences breathing taking sunsets. It is the largest dam in Africa, is also one of the world’s ten largest concrete arch dams in terms of volume, with capacity of nearly 2 Billion cubic metres and a surface area of 38.5 square kilometres. katse dam
It is located in an unspoilt area in Semonkong is a 192 metre-high waterfall dropping into a gorge. The fall is one of the highest waterfalls in the world. It is accessible by a car. Ha Kome Cave village is situated at Pulane area in Berea district. The cave served as a hideout for Basia and one of Bataung clans during the Lifaqane wars and Cannibalism. The cave is still inhabited by their descendants. There are also faded san paintings in the cave which indicates that the san also occupied the cave. HA KOME CAVES
Thabana-Ntlenyana, which literally means “Beautiful little mountain” in Sesotho, is the highest point in Lesotho and the highest mountain in Southern Africa.It is situated on the Mohlesi ridge of the Drakensberg/Maloti mountain, north of Sani pass. A spectacular mountain road is well entry point into Lesotho from South Africa’s Natal Drakensberg park. It stands 3,482 metres (11,424) tall. THABANA NTLENYANA
Mohale dam is constructed at the confluence of Sengunyane and Likalaneng rivers. The dam allows for abstraction and diversion of waters of S engunyane river through a 32 km interconnecting tunnel from Mohale reservoir to Katse on the Bokong arm. It was completed in 2003 situated 91 km from Maseru. Mohale dam is the second largest dam in the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. MOHALE DAM
Afriski mountain resort is located in the Butha-Buthe district (Lesotho). The only ski resort in the African kingdom of Lesotho is located on the 3,222 metre high Mahlasela pass in the maloti mountains. For skiing and snowboarding, there are 1.8km of slopes available. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 3,030 and 3,222 m. Afriski is an all year mountain adventure destination with a multitude of summer and winter activities. LIPHOFUNG CAVE Situated just off the main road from Butha-Buthe to Oxbow and Mokhotlong, the Liphofung Nature Reserve features a large cave overhang in the clarens sandstone .Once a Bushman shelter and later used by king Moshoeshoe1, the founder of the Basotho nation, the cave features stone -age rock paintings as well as rich archaeological deposits.
Thaba- Bosiu, the name Thaba Bosiu means the ‘Mountain at Night’. It was in July ,1824 when Morena Moshoeshoe and his people took occupation of the mountain which his brother Mohale had reconnoitred. He named the mountain Thaba Bosiu –mountain at Night because he and his people arrived there in the evening and the essential protective work took him until late at night. The mountain is flat-topped and it is situated in the valley of the Phuthiatsana river. Thaba-bosiu mountain
