What is Tourism? Tourism is the temporary movement of people from their place of residence to another place for leisure, business, or other purposes (World Tourism Organization, 2023). A group of tourists hiking on a mountain trail with backpacks and cameras. (worldnomads.com, 2019)

How a Country Can Benefit from Tourism Economic benefits : Job creation, increased revenue, foreign exchange earnings. (World Bank, 2024) Social benefits : Cultural exchange, improved infrastructure, community development. (World Bank, 2024 ) Environmental benefits : Conservation efforts, sustainable practices. (World Bank, 2024)

Economic Benefits of Tourism Increased foreign exchange earnings : Tourists bring in foreign currency, which strengthens the local economy (World Bank, 2024). Job creation : Tourism creates jobs in various sectors, directly and indirectly, boosting employment opportunities . (World Bank, 2024). Increased investment : Tourism attracts investments in infrastructure, accommodation, and other tourism-related businesses . (World Bank, 2024).

Social and Cultural Benefits of Tourism Community development : Tourism revenue can be used to support local communities, funding schools, healthcare facilities, and infrastructure projects . (World Bank, 2024). Preservation of cultural heritage : Tourism can motivate the preservation of traditional crafts, music, and dance. (tandfonline.com, 2024)
