TRANSMISSION SYSTEM OF TSRTC BUSES DONE BY RUDRA.SAI SHANKAR
INTRODUCTION Transmission system is one of the systems in the automobiles. It is used to transmit power and torque from the engine to the driving wheels. It consists of Clutch, Gear box, Propeller shaft, Differential, Axles and the driving wheels.
BLOCK DIAGRAM OF TRANSMISSION SYSTEM
DEVICES IN TRANSMISSION SYSTEM There are different types of devices in transmission system of automobile. They are Clutch. Gearbox. Propeller shaft. Differential. Axles and driving wheels
CLUTCH A C lutch is a device which is used to engage and disengage the driving and pinion shafts . There are two types of clutches. T hey are 1.Three finger clutch. 2.Four finger clutch.
Clutch system
Three Finger Clutch The three fingered clutch is also an " PUSH ". In this type of Clutch there will be only " THREE FINGERS " and the total tension is taken by the three fingers while in the engage and disengage operations . This is a hard type of Clutch for operate due to the less fingers. Its spring tension is of appropriately 71 to 74 N-M.
Four Finger Clutch The four fingered clutch is a " PUSH " type clutch. In this type of Clutch there will be " FOUR FINGERS " and the total tension is taken by the four fingers while in the engage and disengage operations. The tension in the springs will be around 71 to 74 N-M.
Four Finger Clutch
GEAR BOX Gear box provides speed and torque conversions from a rotating power source to another device using the different gear ratios . Types of gear boxes 1. Constant mesh and 2. Synchromesh gear box.
Constant Mesh Gear Box Example of constant mesh gear box is GB-13.
Synchromesh Gear Box Example of synchromesh gear box.
PROPELLER SHAFT Propeller shaft is a shaft which transmits the power and torque from the gear box to the differential.
DIFFERENTIAL Differential helps to transmit the power or torque from the propeller shaft the driven wheels and it is used to transmit the amount of torque or power equally to both the wheels.
DRIVING WHEELS Wheel drives are the rear wheels where the movement of the vehicle takes place by the all devices, the rear wheels are the end of the transmission of the power and tyres are connected to it.
RESULT & DISCUSSION The type of Gear box and Clutch is to be used is depends upon the type of the engine used in the vehicle . There will be different types of Gear boxes and Clutches to the different buses but the propellers used and differential used is remains same for the maximum conditions of the buses . The components which assembles in the device are very heavy because they must bear heavy loads and the tension.
CONCLUSION Assembly of constant mesh gear box, Synchromesh gear box, universal joint, Drive shaft, Differential. Working and function of the above mentioned components of an automobile have been observed. Reusing and efficient usage of automobile components have been studied.
