Treatment of phobia

Treatment of phobia: Phobias are highly treatable, and people who have them are nearly always aware of their disorder. This helps diagnosis a great deal.Speaking to a psychologist or psychiatrist is a useful first step in treating a phobia that has already been identified.

Therapies: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT )involves exposure combined with other techniques to learn ways to view with the feared object or situation differently. CBT emphasizes learning to develop a sense of mastery and confidence with your thoughts and feelings rather than feeling overwhelmed by them.

Exposure therapy  focuses on changing your response to the object or situation that you fear. Gradual, repeated exposure to the source of your specific phobia and the related thoughts, feelings and sensations may help you learn to manage your anxiety. Other treatment options : P hysical activity and exercise to manage anxiety

Medications: Beta blockers   can help reduce  the physical signs of anxiety that can accompany a phobia. Sedatives.  Medications called benzodiazepines help you relax by reducing the amount of anxiety you feel. It should be avoided if you have a history of alcohol or drug dependence
