Portal vein receives the following arteries: Splenic Superior mesenteric Inferior mesenteric Left gastric vein Right gastric vein Superior pancreaticoduodenal Cystic Paraumbilical vein
Splenic vein : From hilum of the spleen and passes to the right in the splenicorenal ligament. U nites with the superior mesenteric vein behind the neck of the pancreas to form the portal vein . Receives the short gastric, left gastroepiploic , inferior mesenteric, and pancreatic veins . Inferior mesenteric vein A scends on the posterior abdominal wall J oins the splenic vein behind the body of the pancreas . R eceives the superior rectal veins, the sigmoid veins, and the left colic vein. Superior mesenteric vein: A scends in the root of the mesentery of the small intestine. Passes in front of the third part of the duodenum and joins the splenic vein behind the neck of the pancreas . R eceives the jejunal, ileal , ileocolic , right colic, middle colic, inferior pancreaticoduodenal , and right gastroepiploic veins .
Left gastric vein: D rains the left portion of the lesser curvature of the stomach and the distal part of the esophagus . D irectly into the portal vein Right gastric vein: D rains the right portion of the lesser curvature of the stomach D irectly into the portal vein Cystic veins: E ither drain the gallbladder directly into the liver or join the portal vein
