Role of Technology Supports creation of relevant learning materials Enhances mastery & retention Expands creativity & innovation for teachers and students “Technology doesn’t just help us learn, it connects us, engage us, and makes learning fun. That’s exactly what TTL 2 is all about.”

MATATAG Curriculum A revised Kindergarten to Grade 10 curriculum under the K–12 program, launched by DepEd in August 2023 , aimed at improving learning outcomes. MATATAG is an acronym reflecting key principles: MA ke relevant curriculum (job-ready, active, responsible citizens) TA ke steps to improve education delivery and facilities TA ke care of learners’ well-being and promote inclusion G ive support for teachers to teach better

MATATAG Curriculum Addressed major issues in the prior K–12 curriculum, such as: Overcrowded content Misplaced prerequisite competencies Imbalanced cognitive demands

MATATAG Curriculum Core Features of the Curriculum Decongested and streamlined content forclarity and manageability Emphasis on: Foundational skills (reading, writing, math) Critical thinking over memorization Holistic development: values, health, social-emotional learning

MATATAG Curriculum Implementation Timeline Pilot Phase : SY 2023–2024 in select regions and schools (e.g., Regions I, II, VII, XII, CAR, CARAGA, NCR) PHASED Rollout : SY 2024–2025: Kindergarten, Grades 1, 4, 7 SY 2025–2026: Grades 2, 5, 8 SY 2026–2027: Grades 3, 6, 9 SY 2027–2028: Grade 10

Conclusion The K to 12 Curriculum Framework is more than just an extension of years in basic education—it is a comprehensive reform that seeks to: Equip Filipino learners with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes necessary to thrive in the 21st century. Address gaps in the old 10-year curriculum by ensuring mastery of fundamental competencies and readiness for higher education, employment, and entrepreneurship. Develop holistic individuals who are not only academically prepared but also socially responsible, values-oriented, and globally competitive.

Conclusion Strengthen the role of teachers as curriculum designers and implementers, ensuring that classroom experiences are meaningful, contextualized, and engaging. Leverage technology as a tool to enhance teaching and learning, making lessons more interactive, relevant, and accessible. Ultimately, the K to 12 Curriculum envisions producing a holistically developed Filipino —lifelong learners who can actively contribute to nation-building and adapt to the demands of an ever-changing world.

Reflection “As a future educator, how will you use technology to make the K to 12 curriculum more meaningful and relevant to your students?”

Thank you!
