Age level • Is the application appropriate for the age and year level of the students? • Is the reading level of the text and type of media appropriate?

Curriculum Links •Links between the content/functions of the tool and the expectations of the curriculum? •Are there new or different ways to help teach curriculum? •Are the content and examples relevant to the curriculum?

Instructional content • Accurate information, complete and current. •Reliable sources •Encourage higher-order thinking •Culturally appropriate content and present multiple perspectives

Engagement and interactivity • Will the learner(s) be actively involved in using the tool? • Is feedback provided? Is the feedback appropriate and meaningful?

Assessment •Are assessment tasks included, or can the teacher develop relevant assessment tasks that link to the use of the tool?

Flexibility • Can all aspects of the tool be integrated easily into classroom activities? • Can the tool be used for multiple curriculum units?

Media • Does the medium used support or distract from the learning activity?

Usability • Is the tool easy to use and intuitive?

Technical considerations • Does the tool work consistently? • Are there special technical requirements for using the tool? Does the school have access to those requirements?

Support materials • Multiple forms of help (manuals, context-sensitive help, and tutorials) • Are teaching support materials or online resources available to help a teacher embed the tool into lessons?

The World Wide Web is like an endless network of information, ever-expanding and almost limitless Electronic resources come in different forms like websites, webquests , blogs, social network sites, on-line courses, a wide range of tools, and so many forms of apps.

Below is a set of criteria which you can use to evaluate resources: Accuracy . The resource material comes from a reliable source and is accurate, free from error and is up-to-date 2. Appropriateness . The resource is grade/level-appropriate. The content matches what is needed by the teacher 3. Clarity . The resource clearly addresses the instructional goals in mind.

4. Completeness . The content is complete. It has all the information needed to be able to use them. 5. Motivation . The resource is engaging and rewarding to learners. It will encourage the active participation of the learners. 6. Organization . The resource is logically sequenced. It clearly indicates which steps should be taken. The procedures or processed flow smoothly.

Criteria for Evaluating EdTech Tools

Proven Effectiveness •Is there evidence that this technology can help meet your goals?

Accessibility •Is the Technology accessible and easy to use for all learners? Affordability •What is the cost and is it affordable now, during scaling, and in the long-term?

User Experience •Is the tool enjoyable and used effectively by the intended audience to meet their goals? User Support & Communication •Does the tool provide adequate and accessible user support and communication?

Data, Privacy & Security •Is the solution set up to give you the data you need in a sustainable way and are you clear and comfortable with the privacy policies? Longevity •Are you confident that the vendor will continue to exist and provide needed support and updates to the product for the period of time you may need it?
