So, Twitter

11,069 tweets
1,691 friends
2,203 followers
103 listings

Met some remarkable people
Gained invaluable knowledge
Got some work

There are 130 local authorities
active on Twitter
and a load of other
government departments…

1,584 tweets
487,733 friends
1,605,049 followers
3,082 listings

But there are many, many
more individual officers

(and they are usually more
interesting)

Why should government be
using Twitter?

It’s quick

It’s full of interesting
– and new –
people

It’s findable

It’s mobile

It’s conversational

Some things to do:

1.Be human
2.Don’t automate
3.Keep it frequent
4.Mix your media
5.Be responsive
6.Link, link, link
7.Don’t feed trolls

How will you know if it is
working?
It’s not just numbers

Two more things:
1. Websites don’t change the
world, people do
2. Interactive websites need
interactive organisations

Can we define the relationship
between government in 140
characters?

We can do it in 6!

I’m done.
