DAV NUPPL Public School Parents Orientation on CBSE Two BOARD Exam Policy Welcome to

CBSE Class X: Two Board Exams from 2026 The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will implement two board examinations in Class X starting from the 2026 examinations, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

NEP 2020 Recommendations 1 Two Attempts Students can take board exams up to two times in a year: a main exam and an improvement exam. 2 Core Capacities Assessments will primarily test core capacities. 3 Flexibility Greater flexibility and student choice in assessments. 4 Reduce Pressure Viable models to reduce pressure and coaching culture. The goal is to eliminate the 'high stakes' aspect of Board Exams.

General Conditions First Board examination is mandatory. Eligible students can improve performance in up to three subjects (Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages). Students missing 3+ subjects in the first exam cannot appear in the second and are placed in "Essential Repeat." Students with a Compartment in the first exam can appear in the second under the Compartment Category.

Special Category & Internal Assessment Special Category Sports students can appear in the 2nd exam for subjects coinciding with events. Winter Bound Schools can choose either exam. Facilities for CWSN candidates extended to 2nd exams. Internal Assessment Internal assessment will be conducted only once, before the main examinations.

Schedule & Eligibility Schedule of Exams Main (1st) exams: Mid-February. Second exams: Month of May. Eligibility for 1st Exam Fresh students of Class X Second Chance Compartment Essential Repeat of previous year Improvement examination

Eligibility for Second Exam Improvement category (up to 3 subjects) First/Third Chance Compartment Compartment + Improvement Improvement for students passed by subject replacement Both exams cover the full syllabus. Scheme of studies and examinations remains the same.

LOC Submission & Result Declaration LOC Submission Filling LOC and appearing in the 1st exam is compulsory. Separate LOC for 2nd exams (no new names added). Subject change not allowed, except as per policy. Result Declaration Results as per Examination Bye-Laws. 1st exam result: April. 2nd exam result: June.

Post Result & Admission Post Result Facilities Photocopy, verification, and re-evaluation available only after the 2nd exam results for both exams. Admission in Class XI Provisionally admitted students confirmed based on the 2nd exam result. Schools must inform parents and students about the two-exam policy and ensure timely completion of activities with correct data.
