Different Kinds of Family S tructures
Nuclear Family - A family that consist of a father, mother and dependent children
Extended family A family consisting of parents and children, along with grandparents, grandchildren, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc.
Single parent family This can be either a father or mother who is singly responsible for raising a child.
Step family Two families brought together due to divorce, separation and remarriage.
Adoptive family - A family where one or more of the children has been adopted.
Trans-racial adoptive family - A family where the adopted child is of different racial identity group than the parents.
Blended family - A family that consists of members from two or more previous families
Gay/Lesbian family - A family where one or both of parents sexual orientation is gay or lesbian .

Family LEGACIES
1. EMOTIONAL LEGACIES In order to prosper , our children need an enduring sense of security and stability nurtures in an environment of safety and love.
2. SOCIAL LEGACY To really succeed in life , our children need to learn more than management techniques, accounting, reading, writing and geometry. They need to learn the fine art of relating to people . If they learn how to relate well to others, they have an edge in the game of life.
3. SPIRITUAL LEGACY As spiritual beings, we adopt attitudes and beliefs about spirutual matters from one source or another. As parents, we need to take the initiatives and present our faith to our children.
4. EMOTIONAL LEGACY Develop a sense of emotional wholeness, but the rewards are great. Provides safe environment in which deep emotional roots can grow. Foster confidence through stability. Conveys a tone of trusting support. Nurtures a striong sense of positive identity. Creates ‘’RESTING PLACE’’ for all souls. Demonstrates unconditional love.
5. Social Legacy In order to prosper, our children need to gain insights ans social skills necessary to cultivate healthy and stable relationships. Appropriate social interaction and relationships ne demonstrated more effectively than in home. KEY BUILDING BLOCKS OF CHILDREN SOCIAL LEGACY Respect Responsibility Unconditional love and acceptance by parients Setting social boundaries concerning how to relate to God, authority , peers , environment and siblings. Rules are given within loving relationships.
