Types of Steel Bars Used in Construction
Rolled Channel Section These channel section include of two equal edges connected to web at both ends. These channels can also be used in many applications. The uses may include tracks and sliders for doorways, machines, protective edges for walls, framing or frames material for machines, construction etc. They are available in different size from 100mm x 45mm to 400mm x 100 mm.
Rolled Angle Sections Rolled Steel Angle(RSA), commonly referred to as Hot rolled equal angles or angle iron is a flexible low cost, low carbon product appropriate for a large variety of application. These bars are in L shaped and used for vehicle building, manufacture of frames, brackets, fabrications, shelves, construction, and maintenance.
Rolled T-Section T-section bar also known as T bar or T beam. It is generally made of plain carbon steel. It is available in various grades and sizes range from 20 mm x 20 mm x 3 mm to 150 mm x 150 mm x 10 mm. It can be used as a span to support concrete floor slabs and steel decking. This T beam can also be used to support concrete T shaped beams.
Reinforced Steel Bars Reinforcement steel or REBAR is a steel bar or work of steel wires use as a tension device in reinforced concrete structures to strengthen and help the concrete. It is used in homes, bridges, skyscrapers, buildings, foundations, and warehouses to increase the strength of a concrete structure . The sizes of the TMT rebar vary from 10 mm to 50 mm.
Rolled I-Section These I-section beam is also known as rolled steel joist or steel beams. They contain two edges connected with a web. They are available in different sizes range from 75 mm x 50 mm to 600 mm x 210 mm. It can be used as lintels, columns, beams, can support main framework in building, beams etc.
Rolled Flat Bars These are long and rectangular shaped bars used in a wide range of architectural and structural functions. They are mainly used for heaters and bracing, gate latches, duct work, overhead doors, grill works, windows, gates, etc. the thickness of the bars varies from 3 mm to 40 mm.
Rolled Square Bars These bars contain square cross section. These bars are mainly used for grill works, windows, gates etc. Mathematically they have a square cross-section with sharp ends . The size of the square bar varies from 5 mm to 250 mm.
