2. INTRODUCTION OF UPS
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is equipment that
provides an electrical power supply to a load when the
input power or mains power fails. With a UPS, power
interruptions can be avoided quickly and effectively using
energy stored in batteries, supercapacitors, or flywheels.
Most uninterruptible power sources have short on-battery
runs (a few minutes) but are sufficient to start a standby
power source or shut down the protected equipment

Online UPS takes the
incoming AC mains
supply and converts it
to DC which feeds the
battery and the load via
the inverter. If the
mains supply fails, then
the batteries feed the
load via the inverter
with no interruption to
the output supply at all.
Offline UPS, sometimes
described as standby
power supply (SPS) are
systems where the
load is fed directly from
the raw mains during
normal operations
instead of the inverter
outputs.
A Line-interactive UPS
is one type of
uninterruptible power
source that can
regulate voltage
automatically. The line-
interactive technology
responds to high and
low voltage conditions.

outages without
batterydrainage.
