Homophones are words that sound the same but have different spellings and different meanings . These words may create confusion in listening because they are pronounced identically. Homophones
Peace / Piece • Peace: A state of tranquility. • Piece: A portion of something. Sentence: I want a piece of cake to celebrate the peace in our community. Homophones
• Flew / Flu • Flew: The past tense of fly. • Flu: Short for influenza, a viral infection. Sentence: The bird flew over the field while I was recovering from the flu. Homophones
Homographs are words that have the same spelling but different meanings and sometimes different pronunciations. They often confuse when reading, as their meaning depends entirely on context. Homographs
