WHAT IS WCAG 2.0?
WCAG 2.0 Compliance refers to the adherence to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0, which are a set of international
standards established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to ensure that web content is accessible to all users, including those
with disabilities.
Compliance with WCAG 2.0 involves meeting specific criteria organized under four principles:
Perceivable: Ensuring that all users can perceive the information presented, such as by providing text alternatives for non-text
content.
Operable: Ensuring that users can operate the website's interface, such as by making all functionality accessible via a keyboard.
Understandable: Ensuring that users can understand the information and interface, such as by making text content readable and
predictable.
Robust: Ensuring that content is compatible with current and future technologies, including assistive devices like screen readers.
WCAG 2.0 Compliance is categorized into three levels:
Level A: The minimum level of accessibility.
Level AA: Addresses the biggest and most common barriers for disabled users.
Level AAA: The highest and most complex level of accessibility.
Organizations aim for WCAG 2.0 Compliance to create inclusive digital environments, avoid legal risks, and improve the overall user
experience.
WCAG 2.0 LEVELS OF CONFORMANCE
LEVEL A
LEVEL AA
Minimum level, the most basic web accessibility
features.
Deals with the biggest and most common barriers
for disabled users.
LEVEL AAA
Highest and most complex level of web
accessibility.
IMPORTANCE OF WCAG 2.0
COMPLIANCE
Ensures equal access to digital
content.
Legal requirements in many
countries (e.g., ADA in the U.S., AODA
in Canada).
Enhances user experience for
everyone, including those with
disabilities.

Information and user interface components must
be presented in ways users can perceive.
User interface components and navigation must be
operable by all users.
Information and the operation of the user interface
must be understandable.
Content must be robust enough to be interpreted by
a wide variety of user agents, including assistive
technologies.
