ABSTRACT
UNDERWATERWINDMILL
Anunderwaterwindmillisatechnologydesignedtoharnessthe
kineticenergyofoceancurrentstogenerateelectricity.Unlike
traditionalwindturbinesthatcaptureenergyfromaircurrents,
thesedevicesaresubmergedandcapturetheflowofwater.By
utilizingthesteadyandpredictablemovementofoceancurrents,
underwaterwindmillscanprovideareliableandrenewablesource
ofenergy.Their designinvolvesturbinesmountedonstructures
thatareanchoredtotheseabed,convertingtheenergyfrommoving
waterintomechanicalpower,whichisthenusedtogenerate
electricity. This innovative approach has the potential to contribute
Significantlytosustainableenergysolutions

MERITS&DEMERITS
MERITS
•Tidal and ocean current is
completelyrenewable.
•Tidal and ocean current
producesnoemissions
•Lowmaintenancecost
DEMERITS
•Theinitialcostistoohigh
•Verydifficulttoinstall

LITERATUREREVIEW
•The concept of underwater windmills, also known
asmarine or hydrokineticturbines,isdiscussedin
variousacademicjournalsandpublications. One
notablereferenceisthe book“MarineRenewable
Energy Handbook”editedby TrevorM. Whittaker
and SteveH.Wright.Specifically,underwater
windmillsarecoveredinthechapter titled
“MarineCurrentandTidalStreamEnergy.”This
bookprovidesacomprehensiveoverviewof
marinerenewableenergytechnologies,including
underwaterturbines.
