UNITS & MEASUREMENTS A. ANTONY SANTHAN RAJ

A physical quantity is a quantity that can be measurements and expressed in numbers and units Measurement are expressed in units oficially accepted unit are called standard unit Physical quantity and Measurements

The quantities which cannot be expressed in terms of any other physical quantity is called fundamental quantity. Example: Length Mass Time FUNDAMENTAL PHYSICAL QUANTITY

QUANTITY UNIT SYMBOL LENGTH METRE m MASS KILOGRAM Kg TIME SECOND S ELECTRIC CURRENT AMPER A Units of Fundamental Quantities

Quantities that can be expressed in terms of fundamental quantities is called derived quantity. Example: Area Volume Density DERIVED QUANTITY

All other physical quantities can be derived from these seven fundamental quantities These are called derives quantities

QUANTITY UNIT SYMBOL Area of the square Metre² or Sq uare metre m² Volume of the cube Metre³ or Cubic metre m³ Density Kilogram Metre³ Kgm³ Force Newton N Units of Derived Quantities
