What are unsafe/unhealthy acts
and conditions?

Unsafeactsandunsafeconditions
arebehaviorsandenvironmental
factorsthatcancauseaccidents
andinjuriesintheworkplace.

Accidents
Aneventthatisunexpectedorunforeseen,
unplanned andunwanted, thatcauses
damageoflossofmaterialsorproperties,
injuryordeath.

Hazard
•Adangerouscondition,substance,or
activitythatcouldcauseinjury,illness,
propertydamage,orenvironmental
damage.
Risk
•Theprobabilityofahazardcausing
harm.Riskresultsfromtheinteraction
betweenahazardandavulnerable
systemorasset.

•Struckagainstrigidstructures,sharporrough

•Working while under the influence of alcohol or drugs

limbs,time,andproperty.Mostaccidentsatwork
couldhavebeenprevented.Immediatecausesof

conditions.
