Origin of Alphabet The word Alphabet comes from Latin word alphadetum . From Greek word Alpha - Beta. On other hand Alphabet consisted from two things. The alpha means first, pioneer or fundamental and bet means arrangement. So alphabet means first arrangement.

Definition of language The collection of Letters and symbols. In a fixed order (limited) is called Alphabet. The set of letters and symbols . Which makes the base of a language. A set of letters or symbols in a fixed order used for writing or speaking of a language.

Classification of Alphabet According to writing (form) Alphabet is divided into two types. Capital letters (upper case) Small letters (lower case) Note: usage of capital letters.

According to Pronunciation: Alphabet is divided into three groups. Vowel letters Consonant letters Semi vowel letters

1) Vowel letters = means soundful , voiceful Are speech sound in which the breath flow out through mouth without being blocked by the teeth, lips or tongue. Are those letters when we pronounce them they have the same sound from first up to the end. NOTE: vowel letters producing sound made without using teeth, tongue or lips .

2) Consonant letters: Are a speech sound made by completely or partly stopping the flow of air being breathed out through mouth. Are those letters when we pronounce them, they don’t have the same sound from beginning up to end.

3) Semi vowel: means half sounded Are those which sound like a vowel but function as a consonant. Ex: wet , yet Are those letters that have vowel sound. But used as a consonant.

Letter A written sign, representing a sound used in speech. Syllable: A word or part of word which contains a single vowel sound. Grammar: the rules by which words change their forms and are combined into sentences. Is called grammar Or the study of these rules.
