Oberin MORPG (Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) By Spencer Hoyl
Six Classes to Choose Fighter - Tank Ranger - Scout Rogue - Thief Cleric - Healer Wizard - Mage Druid - Animalist
Fighter Melee Parry Special/Fighter Hayate: Widely recognized as the strongest fighter Fighters are of greater need when fighting higher level creatures. They “tank” creatures and assume most if not all of the damage. This allows other players to fight safely.
World Map Marali - Hard Duldrus – Death Lerilin - Easy Mirith - Medium Andris - Medium
Ranger Archery Tracking Special/Ranger Rangers are efficient at soloing many creatures. This means they have the best probability for survival on their own. Also, rangers can kill creatures from ashore.
Perceived Success Leveling System Success (instead of Experience points) is earned when an “event” is completed repetitively for a certain number of times. From lvl 1 to 2 it takes 100 successes 2 to 3 also takes 100 successes 3 to 4: 200 successes 4 to 5: 400 successes 5 to 6: 800 successes 6 to 7: 1600 successes 7 to 8: 3200 successes The amount of successes it takes to reach the next level is essentially exponential. Generally there is a “time level cap” around level 13. This means that it would not be worth your while to level past 13.
Rogue Anatomy Stealth Special/Rogue Rogues are extremely helpful in groups because they can loot locked containers. Also they emit a high amount of damage in a short amount of time. Be careful though, because rogues can stealth you might have to assume “agro” for most of the fight. A well known rogue guild emblem.
Game Masters Jinker Charnath Cyzna Ellina Enris Foxy Liaraen Nanuht Sucurro Ubijca Aethon Bobley Stefan *Honorable mention* * Ariki * (Not a GM) Game masters help make the game more fun. They monitor game abuse, and run RTQ’s. They will also be the one’s to change your name from demo.
Cleric Alchemy/Cleric Magery /Cleric Healing Clerics are the life-source of the party. They heal everyone and revive those that have fallen. A party without a cleric is a party bound to die (assuming one cannot solo). Iceane : an ancient, excessively wealthy cleric
Role-Playing and RTQ’s Vanguards Scouts Much of Oberin game-play relies on the role playing and in-character abilities of the individual players themselves. Some have taken on responsibilities of training new players or protecting cities or guild halls. With help from GM’s, players can partake in battles with forces of evil or go on an adventurous journey throughout Oberin .
Wizard Magery /Wizard Meditation Enchanting Wizards are a very powerful soloing class. They have can have a high resist magic level allowing them to take on creatures of many different aspects.
Death Increases the level of the creature that killed you Lose 25 successes in certain skills Become a ghost Lose all items (except raft) Dying in Oberin is inevitable. Although it really is a terrible thing to go through, it will happen less often the more you experience it.
Druid Alcehmy /Druid Magery /Druid Taming Druids are probably one of the two best characters at soloing (along with the ranger). Druids cannot tame all creatures, but those that they do are relatively loyal. Pets must be fed often, and kept alive.
Higher Level Creatures Dragon lv12-14+ Stone Golem lv 13 Hell Mage lv 12 Lich lv 14 Magma Golem lv 15 The higher the level of the creature, the higher the level of player and party size including diversity. You’ll want to bring at the very least: a fighter, cleric, and wizard.
Team Effort Because it may take a group of players to defeat a certain amount of creatures, Oberin focuses on a lot of team effort. There are a few different ways to split loot. Since trading in Oberin is based on trust, usually the role of the Rogue is to loot everything, and then split after a ‘hunt’. The Fighter is to assume aggression of the creature, or ‘agro’. The Cleric is to keep everyone alive with their healing powers. The Druid is to Calm all of the creatures if there are too many. The Wizard should paralyze every creature. The Ranger is to lead the group to the creatures.
Guild Halls At least 5 players needed to create a guild hall *contact a GM to buy* Small Guild Hall 1.5 million gold pieces, 15,000 boards and 15,000 ingots. Medium Guild Hall 2 million gold pieces, 22,000 boards and 22,000 ingots. Large Guild Hall 3 million gold pieces, 30,000 boards and 30,000 ingots. MariRangers’ Broken Guild Hall
Miscellaneous Quests and titles Item for Item exchange Separate from the skill leveling system there exists a title leveling system Sometimes if guilds rely heftily on role play then a GM may change a players title to suit the role. Ex. Captain, or General. Title Experience Nomad - ? Peasant Citizen 150 Respectable 800 Honorable 2000 Illustrious 4000 Distinguished 8000 Noble 16000 Master 32000 Sir 64000 Lord 128000
Silver Leaf Shop Requires a Silver Leaf to access To get to the silver leaf shop, one must go through A borek and reach the end and drop a silver leaf in the portal. Aborek is very dangerous and usually several high level players are needed to reach the end. It is also important to note that you must take gold and note store tokens if you wish to buy anything within the shop. In the silver leaf shop you can buy: -Black Armour -Robes of any color either Resistance or Protection -Ash -Poison Glands
PvP Island Also known as the Black Island the PvP Island is an island that allows Player versus Player interaction. However, if you decide to visit the island you will not gain any success, or experience points. Alas, PvP is not a popular activity because the only reward is “bragging rights”.
