Examples and parts of the EMBL database Although EMBL is an information-rich data, some of the projects and divisions of the database are as follow: CON division: CON division is a new developed database division which includes complete genomes as well as some other long sequences. Also, each CON division has a specific accession number that provides information about the construction of the project. Draft human genome: it is project that is funded by 5 sequencing centers; the focus of the project was producing a draft version of the human genome.
Applications used to submit data sequences Two major sources are the contributors of the EMBL database. Scientists: they can directly submit the related data to the databases. Genome project groups: they contribute to the database by producing huge amounts of nucleotide sequence data. Applications: the researchers can use two important tools to submit the data. WEBIN: researchers can submit the data using internet. SEQUIN: it is a software tool that helps researchers in submitting the data into the EMBL database.
The format and structure of the files of the database EMBL flat-file format: it is a file format that is comprised of a series of strictly controlled line types. Supported by many software packages. Consists of four important blocks of data: Descriptions and identifiers. Citations. Features. Sequence.
Materials and Procedure. Materials: internet and some specific software such as SEQUIN. Procedure: open the EMBL link. Answer the questions. A screen will open for submission. Webin submission service will open up. Account ID. Click of new submission .
