X-ray VS CT scan VS MRI Dr.Hardip Baraiya
X- ray X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, like light. They are less energetic than gamma rays and more energetic than ultraviolet light . They pass easily through soft tissue such as organs and muscles. They don’t pass as easily through hard tissue such as bones and teeth, so they produce images of skeletal structures .
Creates 2D images. Used primarily to see bone and detect tuberculosis, pneumonia, lung cancer and pneumothorax . Most common and widely available. Low costly. Use radiation to produce images .
Tuberculosis x-ray Lung cancer Pneumonia X-ray
Ct-SCAN Other name is computerized tomography (CT-scan). A computerized tomography (CT) scan is usually a series of X-rays taken from different angles and then assembled into a three-dimensional model by a computer . Tomography means a picture of a slice. CT image is more useful for understanding blood vessels and soft tissue.
Rotating x-ray machine to take multiple x-ray image from different angle Blood clot, blood injury, cancer, tumor, lung, heart, abdomen Radiation Creates 3D images Faster than MRI Less cost than MRI No noise sound
CT-SCAN machine LUMBER SPINE CT- SCAN
MRI Other name is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI ). Strong magnetic field and radio wave frequency Spine, bone, joint, brain tumor, stroke better for soft tissue, ligaments No radiation Creates 3D images Costly than CT scan Noise sound
