…the ability to retain the centre of mass of the body above the base of support with reference to static, or dynamic conditions of movement, shape and orientation Sports related: Gymnastics – landing after a jump Netball – landing after an interception Gymnastics – maintaining a handstand Basketball – landing after receiving a pass Balance

Put these activities under the correct headings: Performing a handstand Show jumping Balancing on one leg Holding a weight above your head Surfing Snowboarding The plank Balance Task 1 Page 25 Task 2 Page 26

There are different types of co-ordination. Can you think of any? Hand – eye? Foot – eye? Can you do the tasks on page 26 of the book? …the ability to use 2 or more body parts together Sports related: Football – kicking the ball Tennis – hitting the ball with the racket Cricket – fielder catching the ball Co-ordination
