Based on what evidence can we say that Greece gradually transformed ? How can we attest the growth of Mycenaean trade ? Explain what are Linear B tablets ? Why are Liner B tablets so important ?

3rd of September 2024 Walls look to have played a major role for Late Mycenaeans. In a few lines explain what does it mean. In the last paragraph of the reading The Later Mycenaeans, in the Iliad and Odyssey, and Hittite archives, it is said that Mycenaeans held a prominent position in the region. Look at the whole paragraph and in one or two statements explain the affirmation. In paragraph two, Reading The Administration of Mycenaean Kingdom, says that the kingdom of Pylos was large and highly organized. Read paragraph two and three and explain in a few sentences how can we understand the concept of organization in the kingdom of Pylos.

ORGANIZING QUESTION How did Persians decide on the best type of government for their expanding.

brainstorm ideas on a sheet of paper for the best way to rule this empire. include ideas about type of government , economy , military , and other possible branches .

The Persians also disagreed about how best to govern their expanding empire in the sixth century BCE. You will analyze a primary source to help you answer the organizing question: How did Persians decide on the best type of government for their expanding empire?

Otanes (Old Persian Utâna ):  Persian nobleman, one of the seven conspirators who killed the Magian usurper Gaumâta and helped Darius I the Great become king  (29 September 522 BCE). Several years later, he added the Greek island Samos to the Achaemenid Empire. Megabyzus (flourished 5th century bc ) was  one of the greatest generals of the ancient Achaemenid Empire of Persia . He was the son of  Zopyrus  and the brother-in-law of King Xerxes I. Darius I (born 550 bc —died 486) was the  king of Persia in 522–486 bc , one of the greatest rulers of the Achaemenid dynasty, who was noted for his administrative genius and for his great building projects.

Objective: In this lesson, you will explore the political debate about how the Persian Empire chose its government. By comparing three different perspectives from historical texts and videos, you will identify the main arguments, understand how they relate to the needs of the growing empire, and reflect on what kind of government was chosen and why. You'll use this knowledge to write a personal response that connects historical ideas to your own thoughts. Purpose: The goal of this lesson is to help you think critically and compare different forms of government by examining how the Persians debated their options. You'll learn about the pros and cons of monarchy, democracy, and oligarchy, and why Persia eventually chose one. This will help you develop your ability to analyze historical decisions and reflect on how these ideas can still apply to governments today.

ORGANIZING QUESTION How does Pericles’s “Funeral Oration” reflect the civic virtues of Athenians during their Golden Age?

In 5 minutes write down as many ideas as you can in response: “In Praise of Peru”—Pretend that you are responsible for giving a speech to highlight the virtues of Peru government and culture in order to focus people on positive aspects during an era of conflict. (choose an era you considered most significant)

How the comments I wrote might be biased or missing some facts because of the purpose and audience for the speech. Take 30 seconds and explain your answer .

We will look at the funeral speech given by Pericles during the Greek Peloponnesian War. We will read and analyze the speech for clues to answer the organizing question: How does Pericles’s “Funeral Oration” reflect the civic virtues of Athenians during their Golden Age?

We will read a section of the speech and annotate main ideas from that section. Next, we will choose two pictures that represent the main points of their assigned section. Skill : Annotation/Sketching Through the Text

Exit ticket questions . Answer them on the piece of paper you have received . Mention a few things you take with you from this class and why you choose them . Mentionthe an interesting thing you have learned about today . From the content of the videos, what would you like to focus on more, what would you like to learn more about . Do you find the learning today being connected with the contemporary world we live in? Why ?
