•Micrometerusedshouldhaveleastcountof1µminsteadof10µm.
•Axlejournalandshoulderdiameterfoundtobehigher.
•DialingprobeofATLshallnotbeusedformeasurementoffinishdiameter.•ImpropermountingofCTRB-Bearingmountingpressisnotcalibrated.
Ingeneral,pressuregaugesiscalibratedinsteadofbearingmountingpress
•ImpropermountingofBackingring-sealantnotapplied.
•UpperandLowerControlarmnotcheckedbeforemounting.
•CTRBstackedinhaphazardmanner-Morethan2yearsoldCTRBswhichare
pre-lubricated,aremounted.
•Transportationofwheelssets–2nos.atatimewithFLTs.
•ControlArmfitmentmethodreversed.ControlArmfittedfirstonCTRBand
thenontoBogieframe.Possibilityofmisalignmentatsource.
•TighteningsequenceofthescrewsofSecuritydiscisnotproper.

•DrawingofbackingringwasstudiedinassociationwithM/sTIMKENandit
wasnoticedthatinterferencefitofaxleshoulderandbackingringwas
9micron(min.).
•M/sTIMKENsubmittedaproposalofbackingringwithrevisedtolerancei.e.
from160(E7)to160(F7)whichwasacceptedandM/sTIMKENadvised.
A)Interference fit of existing backing ring of M/s Timken :
As per M/s Timken existing drawing No. E-48999 of backing ring & RCF’s axle drg.No.LW02100
