Conscience: A Gift to Human Beings raffy del rosario carinan Grade 10 Pre – Service Teacher

Did you experience a moment in your life that you choose something or someone and, in the end, you regret that effects of that choice you made? How did you overcome or change it into a positive way?

SHARING of experiences

The Meaning of conscience is more than a little voice inside of us that assists us in making moral choices. It is a personal sanctuary where God speaks to man.

The Meaning of conscience In its fundamental role of judging good or evil — the rightness or wrongness of a person’s choices

The Meaning of conscience Human person hears a God’s voice (conscience) “Do Good, Avoid Evil”

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says “ moral conscience , present at the heart of a person, enjoins him at the appropriate moment to do good and avoid evil. It also judges particular choices, approving those that are good and denouncing those that are evil. Moral Conscience

The Seven 7 Types of Conscience

Correct conscience tells us when something is a good choice or a bad choice and that this decision is in agreement with what that thing actually is according to the objective law.

Erroneous conscience judges something incorrectly , when something is bad you think it is good and when it is good you think it is bad.

Certain conscience means convinced without any doubt that an action is good or bad.

Doubtful conscience means when you cannot choose between good and bad choices.

Scrupulous conscience means a conscience that judges that there is sin where there really is no sin , or that judges that something is a mortal sin when it is only a venial sin.

Lax conscience means when you see no sin where there actually is sin.

Delicate conscience judges correctly and with careful attention concerning the acts that are about to be performed.

The Seven 7 Types of Conscience

Mature and Immature Conscience

Mature conscience A conscience that weighs decisions It looks to God’s Law of love and is open to truth and goodness

immature conscience A conscience that act out of others motives. Not so good For example A need to avoid punishment Desire for rewards Wish to please others

Perhaps the nobility and dignity of man’s conscience has been most beautifully described in the poetic words of Cardinal John Henry Newman:

“Conscience is a messenger of Him who, both in nature and in grace, speaks to us behind a veil, and teaches and rules us by His representatives. Conscience is the aboriginal Vicar of Christ” (Letter to the Duke of Norfolk, 1855).

Lord Jesus, you came to destroy the works of the devil and to call us all children of God. You sent us the Advocate so that we may know your truth and rest in the bosom of the Father. Hear our prayers and supplications Lord as we beg of you to help us in this time of darkness and confusion. Send us Angels in sufficient rank, number, power and authority to fight the demons off and away from us, to fight the demons off and away from our families, our communities and our nations. Amen

Thank you & see you again! Raffy del Rosario Carinan
