Daily Define Dose (DDD) Name- Sathe Sanchit Sanjay Roll No:- 36 Class:- Final Year Year:- 2022-23 Topic Name:- Daily Define Dose (DDD) Guided by Mrs. Pawar R. V. Associate Professor, SPM`s College Of Pharmacy, Akluj

Daily Define Dose (DDD ) It is assumed by average maintenance dose per day for drug used for its main indirection in adults. These 1 st establish in 1970. It is statistical measurement of drug consumption- Cost. Number of units. Number of prescriptions. Physical quality of drug. DDD is center for drug statistic methodology.

Concept of DDD:- A technical unit of measurement, represents an “average” daily dose for the main indication. It issued for measuring & comparing volume of drug use. DDD should not be interpreted as the Prescribed Daily Dose (PDD)/ Recommended Daily Dose (RDA). It indicates global dosage irrespective of genetic variations. DDD provides a rough estimate of consumption and not an exact picture of actual use. General Principles for DDD Assignment:- Assigning only one DDD per route of administration within an ATC code. DDD will not be assigned unless a product is approved & marketed in at least one country. For substances indicated for rare disorders with individual dosing DDD may not be assigned. DDDs for herbal medicinal products are not included in the ATC index DDDs for single substances are normally based on monotherapy .

DDD assigned for- Medicine given on ATC code. Only one DDD is assigned for per ATC code and route of administration. DDD not assigned for- Topical Drug (ATC code D) Sera (ATC code J06) Vaccine (ATC code J07) Antineoplastic Agents (ATC code L01) General Local Anesthetic (ATC code N01) Ophthalmological (ATC code S) Allergic Extract And Contrast Media (ATC code V08) DDD is not correspond to PDD (Prescribed Daily Dose)

Therapeutic dose for individual / patient group based on- Age. Weight. Type and severity of diseases. Pharmaceutical analytical data. DDD Benefits- Examine change in drug utilization overtime. Make international comparison. Evaluate effect of intervention on drug use. Document relative therapy intensity with various group of drug. Follow change in use of class of drug Evaluate regulatory effects of intervention on prescribed patient.
