Prime Minister Narendra

that with the Opposition
INDI Alliance now start-
ing to blame the EVM, it

the success of the NDA.
Addressing a rally in
favour of BJP?s Patliputra

candidate Ramkripal Ya-
dav here, Modi said a new
record would be set up on

of the people favoured the
return of his government,
Modi claimed.
The PM asked the mas-

the famous laddoos of
Maner for celebrations on

Mango crop ruined: Aam becomes ?khaas?

ango, famous as
the king of
fruits, has be-
come out of reach of the
common man in this sea-
son. Due to damage to the
mango crop in Gujarat
and Uttar Pradesh, the
supply of mango this year
has been much less than
the demand, due to which
its prices have increased
by 25 to 40 percent.
Due to less than 20
percent crop in Gujarat,
the Gujarati ?Langda? va
riety of Mango, famous
for its taste, is missing
from the market this year.
Its supply from Guja-
rat to other states is very
less and whatever man-
goes have been produced
in Gujarat this year are
being supplied locally
only.Its rate in the Guja-
rat wholesale market is
around Rs 80 to Rs 100,
due to which the fruit
sellers of Rajasthan are
hesitant in ordering it.
Govind Chhelani,
President of Jaipur Fruit
Wholesalers Association
located at Muhana, which
is Rajasthan?s largest
fruit and vegetable mar-
ket, said that the avail-
ability of mangoes at low
prices to the general pub-
lic is now dependent only
on the supply of mangoes
from Uttar Pradesh.
At present, the arrival
of Dussehri mango has
started from Manakpur
near Lucknow, although
it is also limited due to
which its price in the
wholesale market is at Rs
30 to 60 per kg depending
on the quality and size.

The alleged suicide
prompted a strong reac-
tion from the local Seervi community, who de-
manded the immediate removal of DSP Seema Chopra. Responding to this, the IG transferred Chopra to the Ajmer headquarters on Friday night, leading the family to finally retrieve the de-

High demand and supply gaps
plague Rajasthan?s power grid

The state is reeling under
power crisis and people
are troubled because of
power cuts and the negli-
gence of engineers. Ra-
jasthan Discom adminis-
tration, however, claims
that efforts are on to re-
duce the gap between
demand and supply. They
are also mulling power
cuts in industries.
With the rise in mer-
cury, power demand has
touched its peak. The gap
in production and de-
mand has widened from
1500 to 2500 MW. On
May 15, 3178 lakh units
of electricity was sup-
plied whereas on May
22, 3575 lakh units. To
meet the demand, Power
Development Corpora-
tion is buying 5 to 6 crore
units of expensive elec-
tricity every day from the
exchange but it has not
helped. The plan to bor-
row electricity from oth-
er states has also failed.
Much of the problem can be attributed to negligence
as in March and April, when it was time for planning,
the Energy Minister was busy in transfers and the
system was not upgraded due to the Model Code of Con-
duct. The capital Jaipur is also facing a power crisis. Jaipur

of 330 MW of Dholpur Combined Cycle Power Plant.

Sojat MLA Shobha Chauhan has expressed serious concerns over the unannounced power cuts and poor water supply af- fecting her constituency. Taking proactive steps, Chauhan has written a letter to the PHED minis- ter, urging improvements in water supply system.
In addition to this,
Chauhan met with the Divisional Commission- er and District Collector L.N. Mantri to discuss
the deteriorating condi- tions of electricity and water supply. During these meetings, she voiced her frustration over the lack of respon- siveness from employees and officials of the Elec- tricity and PHED, who have been ignoring calls.
Chauhan?s efforts un-

Rajasthan Pradesh Con- gress Committee President Govind Singh Dotasara said on Saturday that the BJP state government is not able to provide electricity and drinking water to the people of the state despite the scorching heat, due to which people in the rural areas of the state are walking miles to get drinking water. ?The city residents are quenching their thirst by spending huge amounts of money and buy- ing water tankers, whereas due to the government?s negligence, a severe power crisis has arisen in the state and the government is im- posing unannounced power cuts of two to four hours in the state capital whereas in other cities and rural areas of the state, people are fac- ing heat problems due to lack of electricity for sev- eral hours,? he said.

y the end of 2024 the US will send an Indian
to its International Space Station (ISS) to keep
a commitment made to Prime Minister Nar-
endra Modi. Whoever flies into space will only be the
second Indian to do so. The honour of being the first
rests with Squadron Leader Rakesh Sharma who went
into space aboard the Soviet spaceship Soyuz.
The Soyuz flight made Rakesh Sharma a house-
hold name in April 1984 when he told the then Prime
Minister Indira Gandhi, ?Saare jahaan se accha Hin-
dustan hamaara?? The ISS mission is likely to be
more challenging. The National Aeronautics and
Space Administration will provide training to pro-
spective Indian astronauts to prepare them for the
arduous journey.
This does not mean that India?s own manned mis-
sion into space has been shelved. It is very much on
track for launch in 2025. First four astronauts have
already been selected for the mission. One would
rather wait for our own manned mission.

POLITICS OVER OBC
QUOTA FOR MUSLIMS
he Calcutta High Court quashed reservation
for Muslims in the Other Backward Classes
category on the ground that it was done due
to religious consideration. Religion as criteria for
reservation is unconstitutional. Between March
2010 and May 2012 the West Bengal government
extended reservation benefits under the OBC cat-
egory to 77 classes of which 75 were Muslims. A
bench of Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty and Justice
Rajasekhar Mantha found it to be in violation of the
constitutional provisions dealing a blow to Mamata
Banerjee in the midst of Lok Sabha elections. The
Trinamool Congress
is heavily dependent
on the Muslim com-
munity for votes.
It is surprising that
Left Front (2011)
and Trinamool Con-
gress (2012) govern-
ments? decision on
quota for Muslim
Backward Classes
has taken almost 12
years to be quashed.
More recently, the
Karnataka govern-
ment?s decision was
criticized by Prime
Minister Narendra
Modi. The National
Commission for
Backward Classes
also flagged the issue and asked for a reason for
categorizing all Muslims as backwards as it deprived
other backward classes of reservation benefits.
With the opposition parties wooing minority
community for votes the decisions of West Bengal,
Karnataka and Rajasthan governments is seen by
the BJP as appeasement. In Rajasthan, the Congress
government is said to have given reservation to 14
Muslim castes under the OBC category.
Several Muslim castes are included in reservation
for OBCs at the Centre and state levels. This is
based on the social and educational backwardness
of the community. But the quota varies from one
state to another. Kerala has 8 percent Muslim quota
within the 30 percent OBC quota.

ALL SET FOR
IPL FINALE
For now, the stage is set
for an epic battle between
SRH and KKR. They are
both heavily dependent on
their top order to give them
an aggressive start but also
have reliable middle order
batsmen to take control in
case there is a wobble.
The key players for SRH will

KKR bowlers will be wary
of the brutal attack that the
SH openers are capable
of and would look to create
pressure from the onset and
not let the game drift.
On the other side, KKR
have Sunil Narine in the
most amazing form of his
career both with bat and
ball. He has 482 runs to
add to his 16 wickets and
in all probability will be the

t was a sad
end to a
memorable
campaign
for Ra-
jasthan Royals (RR) as
they crashed out of the IPL
2024, losing to the Sunris-
ers Hyderabad (SRH) in
the second Eliminator.
Now, the final of this thrill-
ing IPL season will be be-
tween Kolkata Knight
Riders(KKR) and Sunris-
ers Hyderabad on Sunday
evening in Chennai. Even-
tually, the Top Two after
the league phase have both
managed to find an entry in
the grand finale and it?s
only fair that the 2 best
teams compete for this
year?s IPL trophy.
Unfortunately, for the
RR it was a case of so near
and yet so far. The franchise
has not been able to win a
title since the 2008 inaugu-
ral edition, where inspired
captaincy by Shane Warne
helped Royals to clinch the
championship. The start of
the season for RR was fab-
ulous and after the first half,
they looked to be the team
which had all its bases cov-
ered and seemed set for a
Top 2 finish on the points
table.
In the second half of the
season, RR?s momentum
inexplicably slipped away!
After winning 4 games on
a trot and being in a com-
fortable position with 8
wins out of 9 games, RR
lost the next 4 games in a
row. Their last league
game with KKR was aban-
doned due to rain. This put
the Royals effectively out
of the top positions and
they ultimately made the
playoffs as number 3 on
the points table.
While the RR side man-
aged to win comfortably
against Royal Challengers
Bengaluru(RCB) in the
first knockout, they had an-
other hurdle to cross before
sealing a bert for the finals.
SRH has been in great form
and it was always expected
to be a tough encounter for
RR but their eventual ca-
pitulation will not go down
well with the fans.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
were put into bat by RR
after winning the toss.
They began well but stut-
tered to be at 120 for 6 af-
ter 14 overs. But Royals
couldn?t consolidate on the
opportunity to bowl them
out and SRH managed to
reach 175, courtesy a 34
ball 50 by Heinrich Klaas-
en. For once, RR?s star per-
formers throughout the
season, Yuzvendra Chahal
and Ravi Ashwin, were un-
impressive and ended their
IPL?s final game without a
wicket between them.
It was still a game for RR
to lose since it has been a
high scoring season and
176 wasn?t a steep target by
any means in the modern-
day era. It was a decent start
as Yashaswi Jaiswal hit a 21
ball 42 but after he threw
his wicket away to a reck-
less shot in the 8th over, RR
never recovered. The mid-
dle order proved to be its
Achilles Heel once again
with no batter apart from
Dhruv Jurel scoring more
than 10! Ultimately, RR
was put out of its misery,
losing to SH by 36 runs.
This was a season where
many RR players shone
and made their presence
felt. The early success of
the team could be attribut-
ed to Sanju Samson , the
leader. He was astute in his
decision making and led by
example. He will also be
credited for promoting Ri-
yan Parag up the order
where he batted brilliantly
all through the season. It
was also a great comeback
by Chahal who earned an
India call up for the up-
coming T20 World Cup
due to his IPL performance.
For now, the stage is set
for an epic battle between
SRH and KKR. They are
both heavily dependent on
their top order to give them
an aggressive start but also
have reliable middle order
batsmen to take control in
case there is a wobble. The
key players for SRH will
once again be Travis Head,

have Sunil Narine in the
most amazing form of his
career both with bat and
ball. He has 482 runs to
add to his 16 wickets and
in all probability will be
the Player of the Tourna-
ment if he succeeds in the
finals as well. Phil Salt and
Shreyas Iyer have been in
great nick too, always tak-
ing the momentum created
by Sunil Narine ahead.
In respect to the larger
scheme of things, the IPL
was a perfect platform for
the players to be ready for
the T20 World Cup which
begins just a week after in
the U.S.A and the Caribbe-
an. While the rivalries be-
tween fans may have existed
during the League, they will
all unite for the national
team and hope that America
proves lucky for the Indians!

It is time for the biggest
match in the Indian Pre-
mier League as Kolkata
Knight Riders take on the
Sunrisers Hyderabad at
the MA Chidambaram
Stadium in Chennai on
Sunday. Both teams have
had a terrific season.
While Kolkata won
nine and lost only three of
their 14 league matches,
Hyderabad won eight and
lost five. They met once at
the league stage and then
again in the first qualifier
at the playoffs.
On both occasions,
Kolkata got the better of
the team from Hyderabad.
Hence, the orange brigade
would be looking to make
it third time lucky. They
won a great Qualifier 2
against the Rajasthan
Royals to reach the final.
KKR have been pow-
ered by Sunil Narine?s
all-round brilliance. Sev-
eral other players have
also stood up. It will be a
rematch of Qualifier 1
which saw KKR thrash
the Orange Army by eight
wickets in Ahmedabad.

Haryana Manohar Lal
Khattar is contesting
from Karnal on BJP ticket, where
he is facing a tough competition
from Congress?s young candidate
Divyanshu Budhiraja. When Khattar
reached Panipat in connection with
his election campaign, he was given
a grand welcome there. Meanwhile,
an old worker of Sangh and BJP
came to him
and told him
that ?very dirty
politics is going
on in the state.
I am a Brahmin
myself, so I am
very saddened
that the ticket
of Ramesh
Kaushik ji, who
is a big leader of
Brahmins, has
been canceled.
His CD went viral on social
media as soon as you were the
Chief Minister. You have actually
lowered the level of politics.? On
this, Khattar replied ? ?Sir, I have
worked to raise the level of politics,
because 8-9 such CDs had come
to my notice but only one was
released. So I saved the level of
politics from falling and also saved
the name of Haryana.?

orth India is currently
enduring intense
heat, prompting the
Indian Meteorologi-
cal Department
(IMD) to issue a red alert for sev-
eral states. The nine-day period of
extreme heat, known as Nautapa,
started on May 25, and will last un-
til June 2. During this time, tem-
peratures are expected to soar, with
some areas potentially reaching
close to 50?C. The increased heat
during Nautapa is due to the Sun's
position. In the last week of May
and the first week of June, the Sun
is directly over Central India, mini-
mizing the distance between the
Earth and the Sun. This results in
more direct and intense solar radia-
tion, causing severe heat.
All states in North India are cur-
rently enduring scorching heat,
with temperatures exceeding 45?C
in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar
Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya
Pradesh, and Gujarat. This extreme
heat makes it difficult for people to
venture outdoors. Rajasthan is the
worst-affected region, with Barmer
recording a temperature of 48?C on
May 23.
Barmer continues to be the hot-
test city in the country, with tem-
peratures reaching 48.8?C on
Thursday. The India-Pakistan bor-
der near Jaisalmer has seen tem-
peratures as high as 53?C. The Me-
teorological Department predicts
temperatures in Jaisalmer and Bar-
mer could reach 49?C on May 26
and 27, potentially hitting 50?C. In
Sri Ganganagar, temperatures are
expected to be around 48?C on the
same dates.
We give you some tips which will
help you in this hot scorching
summer.
HYDRATION: Drink at least 4 to
5 litres of water daily to prevent de-
hydration.
DIET: Consume a liquid-rich diet,
including buttermilk, curd, lassi,
coconut water, and lemon sherbet.
Also, eat plenty of fruits.
AVOID OUTDOOR ACTIVI-
TIES: Minimise exposure to the
sun. If you are going out in the sun,
then take an umbrella with you. Ap-
ply sunscreen to protect your eyes
from the sun. Take a bottle of water
with you and keep drinking water
outside and keep your eyes covered
with good-quality sunglasses. Keep
a cotton handkerchief or soft tissue
paper to wipe off sweat.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING :
Cover your body fully, especially
your head, and wear sunglasses.
SAFE DRINKING WATER : Af-
ter being in the sun, avoid drinking
fridge-cooled water; opt for pot-
cooled water instead.
DIETARY CAUTION: Avoid
spicy, oily, and junk food. Consume
freshly cooked, light, and easily di-
gestible meals.
MEDICAL ATTENTION:
Seek specialist advice if
you experience any
health issues.

COMMUNITY LEADER
&LW\)LUVW
FLW\ILUVW#ILUVWLQGLDFRLQ
M Narendra Modi has significantly elevated In-
dia?s global standing and provided a new identity to the Indian diaspora, according to prominent Indian- American community leader Prem Bhandari. Bhandari, who heads Jaipur Foot USA and is president of the Ra- jasthan Association of North America (RANA), highlighted Modi?s impact over the past decade.
?Under PM Modi?s
leadership, India is on the path to becoming the world?s third-largest economy before 2030,? Bhandari stated. He praised Modi for the in- creased respect and rec- ognition expatriate In- dians receive world-
wide. For instance, dur- ing the Ukraine crisis, the Indian flag on a bus facilitated border cross- ings, showcasing the newfound respect for the Indian community globally.
Prem Bhandari em-
phasized the diaspora?s readiness to support Modi?s vision of mak- ing India a developed country by 2047. He also noted India?s re- markable progress in infrastructure, roads,
and new developments like bullet trains. ?As a Rajasthani, I am confi- dent that under Modi?s leadership, our state will thrive in solar en- ergy, akin to Califor- nia,? he added.
Recently in India,
Bhandari offered 500 kg of laddoos at the Ram Mandir in Ayod- hya, with the ?ladoo prasadam? being dis- tributed among expatri- ate communities in over a dozen countries.
