NETWORK ANALYSIS At the End of the Session Student will be able to understand- Rules for Network Construction

Rules for Network Construction A Network should have only one Initial Node (Event) and only one Terminal Node (Event). All other nodes should be tied to the network on both the sides. Each Activity in the Network should be represented by one and only one arrow. An Activity can not start until all its preceding activities are completed. The Arrows should be straight and should not be crossed, unless it is unavoidable. Each Event (Node) in a Network is identified by a Unique Number.

Fulkerson’s Rule for Numbering Number the Initial Node as 1 Delete the outgoing arrows starting from this numbered node. Number the nodes which now do not have any incoming arrows and number them consecutively as 2, 3…. Repeat the Steps ii & iii until the terminal node is numbered.
