ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN V DESTOP CASE STUDY ON BUS TERMINAL
LOCATION,AREA AND INCLUDES the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), set up at the periphery of the city along Jawaharlal Nehru Salai (Inner Ring Road) at Koyambedu, Chennai. It is Asia's biggest bus terminal with aesthetically pleasing and functionally good buildings and spaces was designed by a renowned Architect taking in to account of the future requirements also. The bus terminus is located in an area of 36 acres with the total built up area 17840 sq.ft.us terminus constructed at a cost of Rs. 103 crores functioning since 18-11-2002. terminal which includes main terminal hall, bus fingers, large office space, shops, maintenance shed, crew rest rooms and other incidental structures.
There are 3 bus fingers to park about 180 numbers of buses at a time with an idle parking area for parking 60 buses. About 2000 numbers of Mofussil buses operate from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminal per day. Besides it has separate large parking area for parking cars / auto rickshaws / two wheelers etc. There is a metro station near by .
